Teasing.

I wander into the kitchen fully dressed, ask him: "Hey, do you know who it could be?" He denies it. "Well, who or what it knows only things the two of us know, so you really don't know? Do you have any idea why?" He reaches for his phone. "Why do you need this?"

"Robin, you are level 10, and remember Sunday before last?" He caught on too quickly for my liking.

"Why do you ask?"

"Robin, I couldn't tell you I was the QuestMaster until you completed the quest. The makers of this system must want to test humans without being subjected to the influence of the target. The quest for identity seems like it was a result of the amount of effort you put in on Saturday."

"Figured that something was stopping you. What is it with the increased rewards? And why haven't I got a perk tree yet?"

"My class unlocked at level 10; we are not far from each other in terms of XP. Getting you better, more varied quests seemed better, same with the class. More frequent quests as well."

"You invested in the daily quests over letting me spend my perk points...." sigh, "fine, they have been helping me a lot. What are all of them?"

"Stream, work, walk, shave. It might not be useful as a daily, but it helps you do it each time. I can replace them when needed."

"Have you since taken on new targets?"

"Would you be surprised if I said no?

"Not at all." I take a deep breath. He could grab Chantal and Madelon and give them quests to help us reconnect, but is it worth it? "Are there things I don't know?"

"Most perks have hidden effects, mine I don't know, but yours I do."

Shocked, I ask: "Do they do anything dangerous? Do I need to know them?" Mild panic sets in.

"None are dangerous. The best way to describe them as a whole is horny. Based on some of my perk tree, this app is made to help you be a horny pervert without getting caught."

Determined, I ask: "Could you select Chantal as your next target?"

"Why?"

"Because I want to have a good relationship with her. I feel we ruined the shred of normalcy there was."

"Fine, do you have a class idea for her?"

My eyes open wide, and I smile mischievously: "How limited is it?"

"Two words. No more, so one is fine. Has to be a description of someone's identity."

"Is there a sister's pet?"

"You wanted normalcy, didn't you?"

"Urgh, fine. How about saint?"

"Yep, I saw it when I picked your class, and that does fit with the whole forgiveness theme you want. Shall I then?" I nod, and Pieter starts to mess with his phone. "Uhmm, I don't want to mess with that. Let's keep the class normal." Before I can interfere, he has already finished pressing it.

"Okay, so what did I miss?"

"Saint has an **** version. I selected a normal version, which doesn't interfere with you. **** would have. And I might not have been able to talk to you like this now. I didn't want to take the risk." I blush at his comment. "So, first quest? Let's not immediately make it make up with Robin."

We think for a moment, and I suggest: "Do charity work for 1 hour?"

He nods and fills it in. "Pick two from the following:

• perk: Empathy I
• better standing in the community
• perk: Charity I

He says: "Personally, here I would go with the two perks. Standing, you can lose perks. Though with a perk, I can toggle yours."

"I agree."

We have our breakfast, and I get driven home. We discuss some theoretical questions for the day, but tell Pieter. "You know way better what quests I need than I, so you pick."
