Chapter 16 by Xolodnik Xolodnik

What's next?

Tea, Tension, and Temptation

The teahouse was calm and intimate. Steam rose from clay cups, lanterns cast warm shadows, and distant chatter hummed like soft wind.

Kyle chose a low corner table and guided Hinata to sit beside him. His eyes desperately tried to look about her neck line, and so far he was succesfull.

Kiba sat across from them, looking miserable. Tsume and Hana curled obediently at Kyle’s feet, tails quiet.

Kyle poured tea for Hinata first, deliberately letting his fingers graze hers as he passed the cup. Yet, no notification... Well, at least he managed to see a bit into her cleavage, and glance at her huge tits, barely contained in her sweater.

Kiba gripped his own cup like it had personally wronged him. He didn’t drink.

Kyle finished wit the tea, decided to raise the heat a bit. “So, Hinata… Kiba tells me you’re really talented with chakra control. Exceptional, actually.”

Hinata blinked in surprise. “Kiba told you that?”

Kiba stiffened. “I… may have mentioned it.”

Kyle smirked. “He actually talks about you a lot.”

Hinata’s cheeks colored faintly. “Oh. Um… well, Kiba and I were on the same team for years. We’re just friends.”

Kyle turned to Kiba with faux innocence. “Oh? But I thought you are pretty into her?”

Kiba sputtered tea across the table. “WHAT?! I AM NOT—”

Hinata’s eyes widened. “Kiba!?”

“It’s not TRUE!” Kiba hissed, face bright red. “She was just—she IS just—a teammate! A friend! I never looked at her like that!"

Hinata nodded firmly, yet the look she gave to Kiba was a bit disappointed.

Kyle gave a satisfied little nod. “Good to know. But, and it is just a friendly observation, I think you look stunning!”

Hinata didn’t understand why that made her heart flutter strangely. “Oh—thank you, Kyle. That’s… very kind of you.”

System Message: Hinata Uzumaki’s Relationship Score has increased by 5, as you gave her a nice compliment. Current score: 25.

Kyle leaned forward slightly, emboldened.

“That’s true, you know. Women like you? Rare.” His smile dipped into something more daring, words rolling out with careless confidence. “Honestly, I don’t think I’ve seen many women as beautiful as you.”

Hinata froze. Her lashes flickered. Her posture straightened. She inhaled slowly, trying to smooth her reaction before it reached her face.

“O-oh—Kyle…” She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, the movement small, meticulous. “That’s… sweet. Really. But I—I… You need to stop this... flirting. I am married, you know.”

“Ohhhh—no, no,” Kyle said quickly, hands raised in playful surrender. “That wasn’t flirting. Those were friendly compliments. Like… admiration. That’s all.”

His tone dropped to easy, harmless charm.

“Didn’t mean to overstep. I always admire Kiba's mom and sister. And they have no problem with that."

“Ohhhh—no, no,” he said, hands up in theatrical surrender, palms open, easy smile softening his face. “That wasn’t flirting.”

He leaned back slightly, comfortable, unbothered.

“Those were friendly compliments. Admiration. That’s all.”

The shift in tone was clean, practiced—lighter, harmless, almost boyish in its disarming warmth.

“Didn’t mean to overstep,” he added casually. “I always admire Kiba’s mom and sister. And they have no problem with that.”

Hinata blinked.

Kiba went stone-still.

Kyle turned his head slowly—deliberately—to Kiba. A lazy grin. A silent cue. A raised eyebrow that said: back me up.

Kiba’s stomach dropped.

Hinata looked at him expectantly, completely unaware of the invisible collar tightening around his neck.

“Well?” Kyle asked, playful lilt hiding a command. “Tell her. Tell Hinata how your mom and sister like me.”

Kiba swallowed. Hard. His tongue felt too big in his mouth.

“Uh—yeah,” he **** out. “They… uh… really do.”

Hinata’s brows lifted slightly.

Kiba pushed on, because Tsume—still a dog—gave a quiet, pointed growl under the table, low enough to vibrate in his bones.

“My mom… respects Kyle. A lot,” he said, voice tight. “And Hana—my sister—she, uh… she likes him too. She says he’s… good to have around.”

Hinata relaxed a little, tension loosening from her shoulders.

System Message: Hinata Uzumaki’s Relationship Score has increased by 5 cause she thinks Tsume has a very good taste in people (sometimes literally, but this time it works in your favor). Current score: 30 (Trust).

Kyle leaned back in his chair, letting a slow, teasing smile spread across his face. “You know,” he said, tilting his head slightly, “These dogs have a little trick they like to show new friends.”

Hinata blinked, curious but cautious. “A trick?”

“Yeah,” Kyle said, letting Hana stretch up against his leg, her warm, soft fur brushing casually—or perhaps deliberately—against Hinata’s knee.

Before Hinata could react, Tsume sprang from behind Kiba with a quick, playful jump and nudged against Hinata with surprising ****. Hinata yelped, arms flailing just slightly, and stumbled—right into Kyle’s lap.

Kyle caught her effortlessly, his hands resting lightly on her waist to steady her. Hinata’s cheeks flamed a soft pink, and for a heartbeat she froze, unsure what to do, before letting out a small, nervous laugh.

“They’re… playfull,” Kyle said, voice low and smooth, as Hana pressed closer to Hinata’s leg. He rested one hand lightly over hers, guiding it to pet Tsume, who had landed obediently at his side. The fur was thick and silky; the warmth of the dog against her hand, coupled with Kyle’s subtle pressure, sent a disarming shiver through her.

System Message: Hinata Uzumaki’s Relationship Score has increased by 5. Current score: 35.

Hinata stiffened briefly but didn’t pull away. “Usually Inuzuka's dogs are less affectionate,” she murmured, a small, hesitant smile tugging at her lips.

“With the right people...” Kyle said, brushing imaginary dust from her sleeve before letting his fingers linger just a moment longer. “And they have a way of sensing… who’s easy to trust.”

Kyle’s grin widened. “You know, Hinata… you should come visit the Inuzuka compound sometime. The dogs, the training, all of it—it’s kind of… fun. I think you’d like it.”

Hinata blinked, hesitation in her eyes, then slowly nodded. “I… I think I would. That sounds… interesting.”

Kyle’s grin deepened, pleased with her agreement. “Perfect. I am sure Tsume and Hana will be happy to see you.”

She glanced briefly at Kiba, seeking his approval. Kiba’s jaw flexed, a faint exhale escaping his lips, and he gave the smallest, almost imperceptible nod. Hinata’s shoulders relaxed, reassured, and she returned her attention to Kyle with a tentative smile.

“Then… it’s settled,” Kyle said, rising smoothly. As Hinata stood, he stepped closer, placing a gentle hand at the small of her back to guide her out from behind the table. She instinctively leaned slightly into his guiding touch, appreciating the help.

System Message: Hinata Uzumaki’s Submission Score has increased by 5. Current score: 10.

System Message: Hinata Uzumaki’s Relationship Score has increased by 5. Current score: 40.

Kiba, finally releasing the tight tension in his grip, muttered dryly, “Guess we should finish up.”

They sat for another quiet moment, sipping the last of their tea. Kyle’s eyes flicked to Hinata, scanning her expressions with easy amusement, his smile effortless. When the cups were empty, he extended a hand.

“Shall we?” he said smoothly, his fingers brushing lightly over hers as she reached for support, a casual yet intimate contact that made her heartbeat quicken just a fraction.

Hinata rose gracefully, brushing off the hem of her clothes. She gave Kiba a reassuring nod, and he finally allowed himself a small, tight-lipped smile. The dogs fell in step beside them, calm and obedient, and together the group left the teahouse, and went their ways.
