Three guys sorting things out

Just outside the cabin, the three guys were having some slight problems moving the boat all the way to the lake. While it wasn't all that heavy for all three of them to lift, it was certainly awkward to try and carry it around, and even more so just get it out through the door.

"Well, we're getting there!" Said Brandon, who was already a bit sweaty, but seemed to enjoy taking his mind off with some good and honest physical labor. Being the most fit of the three guys he'd also taken the heaviest burden, thus he was holding up the rear, while letting the others take each of the sides. "Just watch your feet when we get to the path through the woods...!"

"Yeah, I think we got it." Zack smiled back at him, and realized that there was nothing better to break the ice between them but to try and cooperate on something like this. It made him wonder briefly if Heather could have sensed they needed something to do together, though he couldn't shake the feeling that she'd simply tried to get rid of them for a while, which in turn made him seriously worried about what she and Ashley could have in mind for Victoria...

"Look out for the root over there...!" Gavin told him suddenly - making him snap out of his thoughts again -, and just in time to avoid both the root and the small ditch beside it.

"Didn't I just tell you to watch your step...?" Brandon told them both, while Gavin just barely managed to avoid stumbling over a rock in his endeavors to look at what Zack was doing. "I really don't want to drop this thing on top of you!"

"Woah!" Both of them yelled back at him, as he managed to stumble over the same hing that Gavin had warned Zachary about, and they all burst into laughter as they just barely managed to keep the boat upright between them.

"Well, I'm glad we didn't get any of the girls to keep an eye on us..." The larger of the three youths grinned sheepishly, while they stopped to catch their breaths a bit, though his comment seemed to remind all three of them about something entirely different. They continued their task in a more sober silence after that, but eventually reached the beach without any further complications.

"It was easier than I'd thought actually..." Zack said as he checked the clock on his phone. "Only about twenty minutes, and most of the time we were just struggling with that door!"

"True that." Gavin nodded his agreement, and then looked at the boat after they'd turned it over. "I guess we'll have to wait with those fishing poles until tomorrow though..."

"You like fishing?" Brandon seemed quite surprised to hear the hint of disappointment in his friend's voice, and immediately brightened up a bit himself. "I didn't know that, mate!"

"Well, it's been some time, but I enjoyed it a lot as a kid..." The other guy explained, and then shrugged a little as he continued with a more sarcastic tone to his voice. "Though I'm not as skilled at the sport as some, I'd guess..."

"Ouch." Brandon grimaced badly at the comment, which surprised the others, as none of them would've actually expected him to catch the point. Zack would've got it of course, at least if he knew for sure what was going on here, but with both of his friends acting he could tell he'd been right in suspecting something had happened while he was in to town. "I guess I deserved that one..."

"How come?" Zachary was a bit hesitant to ask, after a quick glance to Gavin before he'd decided which party he'd take in case of it being something serious. "What happened, Bran...?"

"It's about Chloe, mostly..." The other guy told him, with a voice full of regret as he glanced back at Gavin, but mostly turned himself to Zack. "And that other stuff too I guess, with me and Heather...?"

"Yeah, I remember that one..." Zack nodded, while Gavin looked a bit more confused, but decided not to linger on that. What was going on between Brandon and Heather wasn't really up to him to judge them for, but he'd already figured that Ashley must already be involved in one way or another. Somehow he wasn't so concerned regarding what could have between him and Chloe either, though he guessed his senses was already starting to get a bit blunted by all these intrigues, and he decided to be about as frank as possibly could about it. "And now you've got lured in by Chloe as well, just like me and Gavin?"

"Hey, it was just as much my fault!" Brandon was quick to reply - immediately coming to Chloe's defense -, which was actually quite exactly what his friend had been counting on. There was a moment of silence then, as all three of them just stood there and looked at each other, and they eventually came to the same conclusion.

"Well, I guess we all care as much about Chloe really." Gavin was the one who finally spoke up, and sounded like he was really trying to apologize to Brandon. "It's all just a bit much you know, on all of us..."

"Yeah, it must be somtehing in the air out here!" Zack agreed with a brief smile, though it faded quickly as he felt that he had something way worse to confess, and he turned his eyes back to Brandon again. "I'm... really sorry too, Brandon. Not just for all this, but for making the mess even worse..."

"How come...?" The other guy looked at him puzzled, and so did Gavin too. "Did something happen in town...?"

"Well, rather on the way back here again..." He admitted, with a brief look back towards the cabin between the trees, as if worried someone may hear him. In fact he wasn't so worried by that as for Brandon's reaction though, but felt like he still had to say it some time. "Dammit, Bran... I fucked Ashley in the car, just before we got here...!"
