Cover the left flank.

You hit the ground abrupt, and while you're beyond used to the dizzying motion of teleportation, Captain Silver is caught off guard. The two of you now stand atop a tall hill which was up and left to where you stood, though now you can look down upon the entire battlefield. Lalarin and Malakae are fighting down one direction of the path, while Bek and Niki are covering the other. Meanwhile, Vyzia and Lynx are on the hilltop opposite of you, facing an oncoming group of frozen bodies as well. Fava and Dixby are in the center, surrounded by Snow, Stax, Amara, Eva, and Xue.

Captain Silver looks down with widened eyes. "You're a crazy guy, Kyle!" she shouts through the sudden volume of powerful wind nearly blowing the two of you straight back down. She then turns her eyes towards the horizon. "I see now why you brought us here."

Marching closer are at least a dozen more frozeman soldiers, some with bows, others with spears and shields, and a few using only swords. It's the most in one place, though you've caught them before they caught you. The ambush was about to get much worse. But now you're meeting them on even grounds, and while you're outnumbered, it's the frozeman who is outpowered. Somewhere nearby, the core must be hiding. It can't be far, and it likely would be near the highest quantity of bodies to protect it.

You slide your hand along the flat side of Lauo, speaking the words, "Flare Blade," as the weapon engulfs in flames.

"I'm right behind you," Captain Silver says.

"Hey, frozeman!" you shout. "I'm coming for your real body, so you better send everything you've got to stop me!"

The warriors of ice stop in their tracks, and while they have no eyes, you can feel countless looming stares. Not only do these men once again begin their march, but others who looked as if they were going to head down to join the battle below turn their attention to you instead. Though at the same time, they enter a frenzy. Every single body rushes forth with anger and a thirst for blood. The battlefield below erupts into chaos.

Malakae tears through all who come near. With one sweep of her tail, she can shatter one into pieces, and her deadly maw crunches through them like chewing popsicles. At her side is Lalarin, who doesn't take a single hit of damage through the onslaught. Her movements are too quick and precise. She rolls over one to pierce the other with the tip of her staff, and then spikes to strike off the head of the first. Her foot knocks one straight into Malakae's path, and the next falls by a barrage of rapid fire strikes.

Snow fires arrow after arrow at any she can see to help, whether it's one behind, in front, or above. Meanwhile, Amara remains beside her in case healing is needed, or if she needs to stand in the way of a straggler. Of course, Niki wouldn't allow that to happen. Not a single body passes by her guard.

Though they don't all come from her direction. One does in fact slide its way down the mountainside, though before it can get to anybody, Lynx calls it out, and Stax drives her blades into its chest, dropping it to the ground and shattering beneath her.

A terrifying roar erupts into the sky.

You turn to see a large, red-scaled beast with a broken wing, still garbed in the eyepatch as it stretches to fit her mass. Lynx eagerly mounts her, and the two begin trashing through all who stands in their way. Meanwhile, it takes only a single swing from either Niki or Bek to fall one of the bodies, so it doesn't take long before there are few left coming.

"The core is close," says Xue behind you.

Captain Silver flinches. "Xue! You can't do that in the heat of combat. I just felt my hat jump."

You stand with your sword still blazing with fire. "Hey, Xue. What is it you do to fight? Are you a mage?"

"In a sense," he responds. "You've been fighting hard, so please allow me to join you. It'll only take the two of us to defeat this creature now. And no more than ten seconds."

Your eyes meet. There's a strange beauty within his, like the distant sparkle of falling snow, or the emptiness of a quiet winter night. He gives you a nod, steps forward, and raises up his gloved hands.

"I'll make sure none reach our allies," says Captain Silver.

"Then let's go," you say.
