Use the rulebook even more
With Kate still adjusting her rumpled dress, you reach for the Rulebook once more. The golden pencil materializes between your fingers, feeling warm and almost eager, as if it's developed a taste for your increasingly ambitious rewrites of reality.
"You're making another adjustment?" Kate asks, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "The Partnership Program is already quite comprehensive."
You don't respond as you begin writing in the leather-bound tome:
"Gartner Law School - OLD RULE: The student body consists of 90% female students and 10% male students. Each male student is assigned exactly ten female partners within the Partnership Program, creating efficient harems that maximize academic collaboration."
The golden letters sink into the page with a brightness that momentarily forces you to shield your eyes. The wave of energy that follows doesn't merely ripple across reality—it crashes like a tsunami. The building itself seems to shudder.
"Did you feel that?" Kate asks, steadying herself against a desk. "Must be construction on the east wing."
You nod absently, waiting for the changes to manifest. Nothing seems different at first, until you notice an odd tingling sensation spreading throughout your body.
"We should get to Advanced Civil Procedure," Kate says, checking her watch. "Professor Chen gets irritable when—"
She stops mid-sentence, staring at you with widening eyes.
"Jamal? What's happening to your..." Her voice trails off as she gestures vaguely at your entire person.
You look down to see your hands becoming more slender, fingers elongating slightly. The tingling intensifies across your chest, which is beginning to swell beneath your shirt in a manner that defies biological explanation.
"This isn't—" you begin, but your voice cracks and rises in pitch. "This can't be—"
"Jamila?" Kate says, using a name you've never heard before yet somehow recognize as your own. "Are you feeling alright? You look pale."
The transformation accelerates, your body reshaping itself with the ruthless efficiency of magical law. Your hips widen, waist narrows, facial features soften—all while memories in your mind undergo their own violent reorganization.

"I'm Jamal," you insist, but even as you say it, contradictory memories flood your consciousness—memories of being Jamila Washington, one of Gartner's top female law students, assigned to multiple male partners in the Partnership Program.
"Of course you're Jamila," Kate says with a confused smile. "You've been Jamila since orientation day. Remember how we both got assigned to Brad for Tuesday sessions?"
"Brad?" you repeat, suddenly recalling intimate encounters with Brad Harrington that never happened—except they did, according to the new reality being written over your existence.
"Are your piercings bothering you again?" Kate asks sympathetically. "Mine took forever to heal properly."
You feel unfamiliar jewelry adorning your newly transformed body—nipples, tongue, navel, and elsewhere—all precisely as you had specified in your previous rule.
"This isn't right," you protest, your voice now fully feminine. "I wrote the rules. I shouldn't be affected by them."
"Wrote what rules?" Kate asks, genuinely perplexed. "The Partnership guidelines were established by Dean Blackwell decades ago."
You reach for the Rulebook, but to your horror, it's no longer in your hands. You scan the room frantically before spotting it on a nearby desk—where a male student you've never seen before is casually flipping through its pages.
"Looking for something?" he asks with a smile that suggests he knows exactly what power he now holds. "I found this fascinating notebook just lying here. Seems like it belongs to me now."
As he speaks, you feel your resistance crumbling, replaced by a submissive deference that feels simultaneously foreign and natural.
"No," you whisper, fighting against the magical compulsion. "That's my Rulebook."
"Your what?" the stranger asks, raising an eyebrow. "This is clearly my property. In fact, I've owned it for quite some time, haven't I?"
"Yes," your mouth agrees before your brain can object. "You've always had it, Daniel."
Daniel. A name you didn't know seconds ago but now recognize as belonging to one of your assigned partners in this new, horrifying reality.
"We're going to be late for class," Kate reminds you both. "Daniel, are you coming?"
"In a minute," Daniel replies, his eyes never leaving the Rulebook. "I think I might make a few... adjustments to our academic environment."
You watch in helpless fascination as the golden pencil materializes between his fingers.
