Chapter 5 by Verdant_Hatchling Verdant_Hatchling

"Who's next?"

A fierce encounter...

A cloaked figure in the shadows suddenly dropped from his hiding, in sheer shock, as a tendril of clay struck forth from beneath him, severing the leg after a mere four seconds, as he began bleeding out.

Then, a heavily armored figure stomped forth, heaving a mighty axe to strike Terran, though it merely passed through him, ineffectually landing in the ground beneath him, as Terran reached out an arm, passing around the shield the man lifted to protect him, as it crumpled like a sheet of paper within the clay’s grasp, as it entangled the man’s arms, and with a significant lack of care, he tore them both from the man’s chest, leaving the man utterly armless, on the ground, screaming for his life.

Then, as a healer tried to rush to heal him, Terran lifted another wall to separate them, collapsing it onto the healer, crushing them into a bloody splatter, as the other healer simply ran away, followed by the remaining two archers, as well as one of the mages, leaving only three foes to oppose Terran.

“Is this worth your lives? Choose wisely, and you may survive…” Terran shouted loudly, scaring away the remaining mage, but the two tanks weren’t so easy to frighten, as they rushed Terran.

But, was it really a problem for Terran? No, not really…

Immediately after they started sprinting towards Terran, many clay tendrils shot forth from the ground, grappling their feet, and sending them tumbling to the ground, as they were torn limb from limb, screeches of pain emanating through the entire city, though everyone thoroughly avoided the area.

After a final moment of screams, there was silence, and with that silence came peace. Until, a sound was heard from around the corner, as Terran dropped into nonexistence, traveling underground to where the sound was heard.

And as he looked up from beneath the figure, he saw up the skirt of one of the mages from before, as the supposedly emotionless construct of clay was suddenly excited?

How was that even possible? That didn’t matter though…

What did matter? The somehow growing excitement in the golem’s mind, as his prey remained unaware of his presence, as Terran slowly reached a hand to grab her leg, catching her completely off guard, as she tried sprinting away, though she was firmly planted to the spot, unable to move a single inch.

As she began shuddering from fear, she was shocked still, as Terran coated her form, shooting away, bounding hundreds of feet in each bound, making his way to the forest outside the city.

And as he reached it, he set the woman to the ground, as he submerged her in a pool of clay, he asked her a question, “What’s your name?”

As the immensely panicked woman was contemplating what was happening, she responded softly, “My name’s Elyrah D’Adora, how… How can you speak?” Despite her immense fear, Elyrah was an academic at her heart.

Terran’s excitement was stalled, as the grin atop his face dimmed, “My… My creator made me, and for some reason, I was different from regular constructs, because SHE made me that way… But, I don’t think even she knew how I became like this…” As he stood there motionlessly, he introduced himself, “My name is Terran Aegis… My creator’s final words were used to give me this name…” A stern, almost raging expression came upon his face, as he remembered what had happened less than a week ago.

“Well… That’s a beautiful name…” As she stopped momentarily, she resumed speaking, “And if she made YOU, she must’ve been quite powerful…” As she went to continue, Terran stopped her.

“Not powerful enough to stop those rats from betraying her… Well, she probably could have done it, but she wasn’t some evil Archmage, she was kind. She was loving, caring… Everything lacking in humanity, I’ve found…”

Following this absurdly pessimistic statement, Elyrah was somewhat worried about some mass revolt of constructs, if they were all as intelligent as Terran, but then, her mind moved on to more reasonable thoughts, as she said something that brought Terran some relief, even if only a bit, “Sir Terran, I… I’m sorry for your loss. She sounds like she was quite amazing…” As she looked to the side, she gazed into the sky, as she was unexpectedly dropped from the clay bindings, onto the floor.

“She truly was. Huuu… You can go, now, I guess…” As Terran had calmed down somewhat, he wanted to simply release this seemingly innocent figure, despite the fact that she’d attacked him.

But, what did she say in response?
