Chapter 15 by fantaghiro
What's next?
a difficult choice
After the revelation of Sarah’s night with Diana’s old flame, the two of you sat together in the quiet of your living room, the air thick with unspoken questions and fragile emotions.
Sarah’s eyes searched yours, earnest and ****. “I need to be honest with you,” she began softly. “Part of me is still Sarah, but another part... she’s Diana. And Diana’s past—her feelings—they’re real, and they’re pulling me in directions I never expected.”
You swallowed hard, the complexity of her confession settling heavily. “What does that mean for us?” you asked, voice barely above a whisper.
She took your hand, squeezing it gently. “I want you to know that I love you—that hasn’t changed. But I also want to explore this new part of my life, this... connection I’ve found. I don’t want to lose what we have, and I hope you can accept that.”
Her honesty struck a chord deep within you. It was a difficult truth to face, but beneath it lay a profound trust—a plea for understanding in a world turned upside down. Despite your misgivings you couldn't deny Sarah. You loved her too much.
In the weeks that followed, Sarah continued her relationship with Diana’s old boyfriend, carefully navigating the delicate balance between her past and present. At the same time, she tried to keep her connection with you, to maintain the new direction you relationship had taken with her as Diana.
But it was impossible. You saw her less often and that lack of contact had an impact. Sarah too noticed the growing distance between you as Diana’s world increasingly consumed her time and energy. Between demanding work commitments, social engagements with old friends, and the complicated relationship with Diana’s boyfriend, your shared moments became fewer and further between. The quiet in your house was heavier now, filled with unspoken longing and a subtle ache as you felt you were losing both parts of the woman you loved - the Sarah and Diana aspects.
One evening, after a rare dinner together, Sarah broached the subject gently. “I don’t want us to drift apart,” she said softly, reaching for your hand. “I know things have changed—more than I ever imagined they would. But I want to find a way for us to spend more time together.”
You looked at her, hope flickering in your chest despite the uncertainty.
“I’ve been thinking,” she continued, “about offering you a position at the company. It’s a way for us to share a part of this life that’s become mine, and for you to be closer to me—not just physically, but in everything I’m involved in.”
The idea surprised you. It wasn’t just a job offer; it was an invitation into a new world—a bridge to help mend the growing gap between you. As you considered the possibilities, you realized this was more than a practical solution. It was Sarah’s way of saying she still wanted you by her side, despite all the changes, despite the complexities.
You felt a spark of hope again.

The Ultimate Transplant
Someone you know is given a new body & life
PLEASE ADD CHAPTERS! A close friend or family member is horribly injured in an accident. As they lay dying in the emergency room, another patient dies of a brain aneurysm. Both of them are organ donors, so a surgeon decides it's the perfect opportunity for him to try an experimental surgery. He transplants the victim's higher brain (the cerebellum) to the donor's body in an attempt to 'save' a life. Amazingly it works. But the surgery was not approved so the hospital convinces the families to keep quiet, arguing that revealing this operation to the public would bring never-ending media attention to all involved. That means that the patient will have to publicly assume the identity of the donor. What will this mean to your friends and family? Who else will you tell? Although you will spend a lot of time and effort giving support, how will all this alter your relationship to the patient? And how will he or she adapt to a complete change of body and identity? Many transformation stories focus on the change or victim, so I thought it would be interesting to instead have the POV be someone who sees the change from the outside. Writers feel free to explore a change in age, gender, class or ethnicity - and the repercussions that change would have on the main character (and others).
