In the year 298, on an unremarkable day, Archmage Delora Vanderin, of the Evershine Magic Academy created a run-of-the-mill golem from a pile of clay, and as it moved from its inert state, it rose into a humanoid form, though only a foot tall, and with a lower half of still unmolded clay.
But something about this standardly appearing magical golem that WAS remarkable, was a shocking intelligence, that even the creator was unaware of, as it looked about, curious of its new surroundings.
But, his creator interrupted his curiosity, as she instructed him to clean the various other failed golems, and as he went to work, absorbing the other golem’s form, he grew in size, from a fifteen pound slab of clay, to nearly two hundred, as he formed a complete humanoid form, save for a single specific organ, which he had no use for, yet…
He was then instructed to await any further cleanup, so he walked to a corner and sat, utterly unmoving.
But was this conscious golem willing to sit and do nothing?
No.
So the golem had an imperceptible line of clay separate from his main body, and his sense of sight, unreliant on eyes as it was, expanded in scale, though only to a small degree, with the insignificant scale of the miniature figure.
So, as his main golem form was remaining at the ready, his microscopic second body began exploring the facility.
And an expansive facility it was, as he found hundreds of rooms in his journey over hours, as he eventually found an unmanned room of clay.
Nearly a thousand pounds of raw clay, laying on various tables for his use, he assumed, stupidly, as he strained his clay form to reach the table, before stringing an arm over to an unsuspecting lump of clay, as he absorbed ten pounds of clay, before engulfing the rest.
And then… He did nothing, switching his view over to his main form, ready to wait for the foreseeable future.
…
Over the course of the past two weeks, the golem had done many menial tasks, mostly acquiring more mass in clay, though he stored it nearby, with the rest of the clay he discovered the first day, instead of making his current form huge.
But one day, he heard a rush of shuffling metal, and the door of the Archmage was kicked down, all the while, the ignorant Delora Vanderin was quick to accuse wrongdoings, before the knights began speaking.
“Archmage Delora Elrenesme Vanderin, you have been charged with treason, both against the nation of Vandris, and against the Evershine Magic Academy. Surrender yourself, or face the might of the Vandris Silver Knights!”
As the main knight shouted this, the others maintained a formation, and began to surround the Archmage, who chose to merely surrender.
But the conscious golem was, for some odd reason, quite attached to his creator, as he rose from his position, grabbing the knight by the shoulder, and speaking for the first time, to the shock of everyone present, the golem’s creator included.
“Cease your actions against Delora.”
“Hah, Delora, you must’ve been testing with living subjects to get speech in your golems. The council’s gonna love that. Get off of me, you mere construct.” After he laughed out the first part of his sentence, he smacked the golem away, nearly spitting out the rest.
As he landed on the ground, the consciousness of the golem expanded, as an emotion was felt. And for the very first time EVER, a construct felt a feeling.
What was this feeling?
It was rage…
And while the knights had no clue of this, nor did Delora.
But what did they notice?
"What's that sound?"

Terran Aegis was born from an ordinary lump of clay, given life by the hands of Archmage Delora Vanderin. After serving Delora for a while, the unnamed golem had grown fond of his creator. But... Suffering always follows. His creator's last words had been used to give him the name, "Terran Aegis". Come and join in viewing the journey of this construct come to life, as he lives a life never before lived, feeling as a golem wouldn't, and growing beyond what is reasonable. Then, this emotionless construct would be happy again...
