A group-wide trigger!

"How about this!" Makoto said. "Ann, Futaba, when me or Ren say the word 'freeze', you'll freeze in place, both in mind and body, and be posable, like a doll. And if we tell a certain body part to freeze, only that body part will freeze. So if we say 'legs freeze', only your legs will freeze."

Futaba and Ann got worried looks on their faces, but Makoto continued.

"Also, if we say a specific name and then a freeze trigger, the trigger would only work for that person. So if we say 'Ann, arms freeze' only Ann's arms will freeze, Futaba's will be fine, and vice versa."

Ren could see the twinkle of mischief in her eyes. Makoto was really getting into this, and he could tell it wasn't just from the show.

"Erm, can I actually sit down?" Ann asked. "I didn't volun--"

"Ann, freeze," said Makoto.

Ann froze with her mouth open mid-sentence. Futaba's eyes widened.

"Woah!" she said, circling Ann. "This is cool!"

She seemed to forget all about her anxiety as she lifted Ann's arm up and watched it remain in the air.

"Me next!" said Futaba.

"Let's try something different with you," said Makoto. "Futaba, below the neck freeze."

Futaba's body stiffened, even though her head and eyes remained mobile.

"Now," Makoto addressed the audience. "For those who don't know, Futaba is a fan of the Phoenix Rangers."

"Didn't have to tell them that," Futaba muttered.

"So let's pose her like her favorite heroes!"

Makoto got to work, posing Futaba to have her hands on her hips, legs spread slightly, and chest jutting out. The classic superhero pose.

Futaba's cheeks flushed, but she didn't say she was uncomfortable. In fact, she seemed to be having a fun time as well.

What was interesting is that Makoto's brain was following the wording of the trigger. No one had told her specifically to freeze, so she was totally mobile.
