“Thank’s we will see you around then.” Vanessa said before she and Steven proceeded off to fix the barrier.

With the barrier broken the village has had to deploy more knights on long patrols instead of focusing on training. The barrier itself largely didn’t have prevent monsters from entering the village instead it mostly weakened them and dissuaded smaller weaker monsters from entering the village, while also sent a warning to Knight’s Headquarters when a monster had entered the barrier and indicated the direction on a large magical stone as well. I reported to the Mayor’s office to report to Hera in the meantime. With a knock on the door and hearing Hera’s voice call me in, I entered at once.

“Good morning Grace.” Hera said as she casually sat on one of the small tables in the office.

So you can exercise or read a book if you want just stay within earshot of the bell and have your sword on hand in case we need you.” Hera said. “I plan on leaving the village tomorrow for several days. Would you be interested in joining me as my escort? I’ll be heading South to the Duchy of Rega to negotiate with Duchess Klea and also so Nina can see about establishing new trade relations.”

“Are you certain you would want me to be your escort?!” I said somewhat stunned by the invitation.

“Yes, you’re a very capable knight and you can hold your own with your magic and swordsmanship. And your All Seeing Eye’s ability to detect monsters would keep us out of trouble.” Hera said praising Grace’s abilities.

This was certainly an incredible opportunity. Neither I, nor Grace had been that far away from the village and if the Mayor herself was inviting Grace to serve as her escort it showed she trusted and respected Grace.

“It would be a Honor to serve as your escort, Miss Hera.” I said with a bow. “However how do we intend on getting there with your leg injury?”

“I should be fine. We will be taking a Nina’s wagon and Nina will be accompanying us as well to help negotiate with the some of the guilds in Rega while we are there.” Hera explained further.

“I see, then I’ll get my things ready to go tonight.”

“Very well, you are dismissed until I call for you or if we receive a warning.” Hera dismissed me for now.
