How is Mikasa getting stripped?

Gear Malfunction

Todays lesson was all about speed, the goal being to get from point A to Point B the quickest. Mikasa was the top of her class, so a race across this massive forest was nothing to her.

When Commandant Shadis yelled for them to go, Mikasa took off immediately. Using the hooks from her 3D Maneuver Gear to bring her from tree to another while also tapping the gas to keep launching herself forward at incredible speeds.

Mikasa was more skilled than the rest of her class, making her take the lead with ease. But she made the mistake of ignoring that rattling noise she heard coming from inside her 3D Maneuver Gear.

Mikasa was only focused on winning, something she wouldn’t be able to do when her gear began malfunctioning. Releasing gas uncontrollably, causing Mikasa to fly forward much faster than she wanted, and the hooks to ignore her commands and stay stuck in the trees she already passed.

This combination of being pulled forward and back at the same time caused Mikasa to rip through the harness of her gear, which happened to be both over and underneath her clothes.

Tearing through her harness meant also tearing through her clothes. Meaning a butt naked Mikasa was sent hurtling through the air while her malfunctioning gear that was still carrying every single article of clothing she was wearing flew off somewhere else.

Mikasa: AHHHHH!

Luckily for Mikasa her fall would be broken by a bush that she landed in. Which also gave her cover from the rest of her class speeding right by her, not having seen the incident because of how far ahead Mikasa was.

Mikasa lifted herself out of the bush confused on why her gear had just malfunctioned like that. She hadn’t realized she was naked yet until she looked down to inspect her gear.
