See if she's responding

Ren decided to text Kawakami the emoji with the spiral eyes. After all, she could either respond with a 'yes' or a 'no', so he'd at least know if she was okay.

He got no response. Okay. Panic time.

He got up as discreetly as he could and left the classroom as the chatter among his classmates continued.

He spotted Makoto in the hallway.

"Ren?" Makoto asked. "What's the hurry?"

"Ms. Kawakami isn't in homeroom," he said.

Makoto's eyes widened. "What?"

"Did you see where she went?"

"Yeah, she wanted to speak to Ryuji about something," said Makoto. "They're in the teachers' lounge. You don't think..."

Ren and Makoto raced down the hall to the teachers lounge. Ren hoped Ryuji wasn't doing anything horrible.
