Chapter 83

What's next?

Who Are You Taking to the Spring Social?

Something was off.

Was it the bed? Was the size a bit wrong?

That wasn't it.

Was it the eye mask?

No.

Madison took it off anyways. Her eyes were bleary with sleep, and it took a moment for the room around her to swim into focus.

Perhaps that's why nothing looked familiar. Or maybe because she had only gotten a room at the Theta Upsilon house at the start of the fall semester. She had only been eligible for a house at the sorority this year, and even then with the size of the sisterhood there were only a few spots open to sophomores. Madison was a legacy, and since she and Aynsley were some of the most popular girls in their class at South Point University, she had been a shoe-in. It also helped that daddy had made a generous donation to nationals.

She looked across the room, and saw Aynsley still asleep and burrowed under mounds of comforters and pillows. Normally Aynsley was a light sleeper, but after that rigorous lesson with Professor Matthews, Eliza, Madison had to remind herself, Madison wasn't surprised that her best friend was fast asleep.

Eliza and Indira had taken through multiple rounds of practice-sex last night. Even though hadn't known who Indira was until yesterday, Madison was so glad that she was the first person Madison got to practice sex with. The girl had been wonderful, so gentle and yet so eager. She and Eliza had taken time after each round, to give Madison and Aynsley notes, tips, and feedback. Not criticism but helpful advice. he had wished she could have stayed at the house that Eliza had given to Joey all night with the professor and Indira, but the four of them agreed, for now it was best to go about their activities as normal. They didn't want to attract the wrong kind of attention on themselves or their sweet Joey.

Madison was so thankful for her other, newer, sisterhood. She had never been comfortable telling the Theta Upsilon sisters that she was a virgin. A woman as hot as her, who had never had sex by the time she was twenty. It was something she had been embarrassed about for a while. Theta Upsilon was a great place to make friends, network, and learn leadership skills. They also through the sickest parties of any of the sororities on the SPU campus. Becoming a sister was an important first step in becoming truly popular on campus, and at Theta Upsilon, popularity mattered.

Now that Madison and Aynsley were dating Joey though, things were getting complicated. Kylie, the social chair of the sorority, had been so judgy when Madison had texted her yesterday that she and Aynsley were bringing some totally unknown dude who wasn't even in a Frat, to the Theta Upsilon Spring Social. She would have to ask Eliza and the other members of her new group for some guidance. Donna and Bianca might not be affiliated with the university, but she trusted them implicitly. Between the six of them maybe they could get Joey into Omega Sigma Chi, or Xi Omicron. The XOs might be a reach, they cared even more about social standing than Theta Upsilon did. But Eliza had already begun the work of supporting Joey, helping him be the best man he could be. Now that the other five were on her side, maybe they could make Joey the next Big Man on Campus. S

Madison's heart fluttered at the thought, and she ripped off the covers and quietly picked up her things to get ready for the day.

After a thorough shower, and beauty routine, Madison walked down the stairs of the Theta house looking cozy yet refined in black leggings, and a tight beige sweater dress with a key-hole that gave the world a spectacular view of her cleavage. She practically skipped to the dining room where sisters from the house, and around campus, had gathered for breakfast. Madison's mouth salivated at the smells of eggs, waffles, pancakes, and a wide assortment of breakfast meats. Even if the only sausage she really wanted was Joeys, she thought, before giggling to herself, and flouncing over to the line to pile up her plate high with as much of the delicious smelling food as she could fit. For some reason, she was starving.

Her goal accomplished, Madison looked around the room to find a place to sit. In her new sisterhood, her true sisterhood, Madison had been placed at the top of the hierarchy, and yet she still felt like an equal with all the others. At Theta Upsilon she was still working her way up the ladder. That didn't bother her as much anymore. When she first joined the sorority she hadn't appreciated how important hierarchies could be for a group of people. She now understood the burden of leadership, and was happy not to have this organization as another responsibility. So she found a table in the corner of the room where some of her fellow sophomores were already sitting. Though she did pride herself on being the only one there who actually lived in the house. Still they barely noticed as she sat down and began to eat, already in the middle of what seemed like a juicy conversation.

"-oh my god, I'm still laughing. They were so awkward!" Taylor said.

"Right? Nicky could barely look at you without turning red." Isla said.

"It was so sad, but like, honestly, kind of an ego boost, you know?" Taylor said.

"They were both so scared. Did you see Raj? I swear the guy was seconds away from wetting his pants right there on the quad when I asked him about Joey." Isla said, before she and Taylor both suddenly stopped. They turned sheet white as they stole a glance at Madison.

Madison paused midway through shoveling a mound of scrambled eggs into her mouth. She hadn't really been listening until they said the his name.

"Wait are you talking about Joey Granger? My Joey?" Madison said, loud enough that girls at the tables next to them perked up before they made futile attempts to pretend not to have heard at all.

"Yeah, the guy you and Aynsley were all over." Taylor said.

"You two were acting so thirsty." Isla said.

Madison seethed. Not because they were wrong though. She knew they were right. Eliza had known they were right. If it weren't for Eliza, and the tight bond they now shared thanks to to Joey, she would still be acting that way. Because she really was **** for him. But Eliza had taught her, that as his girlfriend, there was a certain amount of dignity she had to maintain. Not for her sake, but for Joey's. At least while others were watching. Madison would gladly throw away her popularity to be with Joey. He was the best possible thing that could happen to her. But some girls were just too dumb to realize that. She had always liked Taylor and Isla, but knew they could be judgmental bitches sometimes. Madison could be just as bitchy.

Now though, as Joey's representative to the world, Madison had to remain respectable.

"You're right." she said.

Taylor and Isla were stunned.

"OMG what?!" Isla said.

"So what does he have like, a monster cock?" Taylor said.

Madison smirked, and, fixing her posture, moved speared her fork with delicate grace into a piece of bacon before taking a dainty nibble. Using the act of chewing to pretend to think about this question with great concern. She swallowed and smiled at them.

"A lady never tells." Madison said with a smirk. "But yes, Aynsley and I did react a little strongly with Joey. But that's what college is about, right? Finding your place in the world, finding your people, getting a chance to act with reckless abandon."

Madison tried not to grin in outright triumph as she saw Taylor and Isla wilt underneath the barely concealed scrutiny of the other sisters. Madison might not be at the top of the Theta Upsilon hierarchy, but when it came to her pledge class, she was the queen bee. As long as she kept her cool, Taylor and Isla were pretty much her bitches, and she relished that thought.

"Sorry Mads, we didn't mean any disrespect." Isla said.

"Honestly, we just wanted to know what makes this rando so special that you would act all gaga over him." Taylor said.

"Well in that case, why don't you ask his friends out to the Theta Upsilon social" Madison said, struggling to keep her face neutral as the half the room went silent straining to hear what the girls would say.

"Omg for real?" Taylor said, but not with horror. Madison was glad to see she at least could muster that. No, instead the girl looked amused.

"Girl. They would die if we asked." Isla said, and this time Madison was less pleased with the girl's tone. It bordered on disrespectful, and that was something Eliza had taught her that she could not tolerate if she wanted to be Joey's girlfriend.

"Well do either of you have dates?" She said, giving them a withering look to remind them of their place. They instantly went back to their cheery, if slightly ****, smiles. They thought Madison had shown weakness by asking out Joey, but she was showing them now just how much social power she still wielded.

"Okay. But like… who’s asking who?" Taylor said.

"Well, I’m not even gonna lie. I’m taking Raj. You're way more uh... flexible when it comes to your dates." Isla said.

"Do you know if they already have girlfriends?" Taylor said looking to Madison.

Madison just shrugged. She didn't know but she liked watching them squirm.

"Well you clearly figured out something. If you and Aynsley are into a guy like Joey-" Isla started.

"-Then maybe we're the ones who are late to the party." Taylor continued, and Madison tried not to preen at these girls attempts to mollify her and protect their status in the sorority's good graces.

"We’re so not doing them a favor by going. We just want you to know that." Isla said.

"Maybe they’re doing us a favor." Taylor said.

"Nerds are like totally, the new thing." Taylor said.

"We’ll talk to them. Convince them." Isla said.

"Right. And we’ll… make sure we look extra good."

"Duh. Gotta remind them what they’re getting."

Madison sipped at her coffee revealing nothing as most of the other girls in the room grew bored of eavesdropping. Isla and Taylor had tried to go up against Madison. They had failed. Now all that was left was for the winner to revel in her victory, and they didn't need to see that. They had seen it enough times.

It went on for a little while as Taylor and Isla tried to pump Madison for little information she knew about Joey's friends. Madison played coy, but she realized that she barely knew herself. She could ask Donna, after all, the woman was Joey's best friend's mom. That was a good start, but the truth was she was just as excited to get to know them as Isla and Taylor were pretending to be. She was glad they'd be at the social. If Isla and Taylor were bringing his friends, then Joey wouldn't be alone. He'd be so proud of her. Plus maybe she really was starting a new trend. Then her place in the sorority was safe, and maybe, if he wanted, she could even find a frat for Joey.

Madison sighed. She couldn't see her boyfriend soon enough.
