King Blaid stood on the steps looking down on my father, the guards surrounding him had their weapons pointed at him, ready to strike.
The king had a smug look in his face, as though he had single handedly saved his reign. King Blaid was hunched over slightly as he used a long and sturdy looking walking stick to support himself.
My father was on his knees before the king’s guard, his teeth were bared in anger as he sported multiple wounds on his body. Blood was seeping from his cuts and slashes, and splashing on the ground. He held a hand over a deep looking slash at his shoulder, my father was doing his best to staunch the wound to stop himself from bleeding out.
No doubt my father had been overwhelmed by a number of wolvir, as it would be difficult to defeat him in a fair fight. My anger started to rise and I couldn’t help but unleash my fury. I ran towards the wolvir around my father, swinging my weapon at them. I managed to kill around five of their number before I too became overwhelmed like my father. I took some strikes and two arrows, one in my shoulder and another found it’s way into my shin. The wolvir loyalists pinned me down, six of them were need to keep me on the floor, one on each of my limbs, and two pressing onto my back. One of them twisted the arrow in my shoulder and made me wince in pain.
“Your son is just as feral as you, Farex.” The king said pompously.
“You won’t win this. The wolvir have revolted against you and your corrupt ways.” Father told king Blaid.
“My subjects will surrender, and accept the punishment for treason.” The king said. “And it will be ****.”
“You would kill more than half our numbers?” Father questioned. “All because you’re a poor king. The wolvir will become extinct with you still in power. They need a new king, a strong wolvir who will lead them to victory, who will make the kingdom thrive.”
King Blaid’s face twisted in anger, his eyes widened with fury, and he ground his fangs together.
“A poor king!” He yelled. “I am what’s best for this kingdom. No one will replace me. Your revolution has failed!”
“All you’re good for is getting your brethren killed. You’re a disgrace to the wolvir species.” Father quipped.
King Blaid nodded to one of the king’s guard next to my father. He raised a fist and swung it at my father’s jaw, the sickening crunch of knuckles on teeth could be heard when it connected. My father spat out blood, his muzzle now caked with it.
“You can do whatever you want to me, but as long as there are wolvir that are against your rule, the revolution will never die.” Father said proudly.
“Funny you should say that. Because I have something in mind, by doing something to you to make sure the revolution will die.” The king cackled. He started to defend the steps, the guards held onto my father firmly, making sure he couldn’t move as the king came closer.
King Blaid bent down low to meet my father’s gaze, his eyes looked wild and untamed.
“I am going to have you killed, and parade your head around Luna Peak. Everyone will know what happens to treasonous traitors around here. Then, once your son has witnessed your severed head, he will grovel at my feet, and then I will have him killed too.” The king laughed in a hoarse and broken voice, amused at his own imaginings.
“So you would have me killed?” Said my father. “I’m not surprised.”
“But of course.” The king said in a mocking tone. “The sentence for treason and treachery is ****.”
The king turned his back on my father and made his way towards the keep, he looked over his shoulder and grinned a maniacal smile.
“Kill Farex now. I do not wish to give him a chance to escape in the dungeons.”
With this command, my body struggled, but all the wolvir holding me down was too much for my own strength.
A king’s guard nodded towards Blaid and unsheathed a double headed axe. He instructed the wolvir holding onto my father to push him to the ground, face in the dirt so that he could perform a clean strike.
“Bastards! I’ll kill you!” I shouted. “And the king, I swear he’ll die by my hand!”
The wolvir around me laughed at my promise, thinking I would never achieve it.
“It’s ok Fenrin. I know you’ll make it out of this, and avenge me. Become the wolvir I know you can.” My father said to me, these were his final words.
The axe wielding wolvir rose his weapon high above his head, and swung it down in a fast and powerful movement. The blade of the axe easily cut through my father’s neck, and decapitated him. Blood spewed out of his open neck, coating the dirt in red, his head rolling off slightly. The wolvir who mad the blow grabbed my father’s head and lifted it up high and roared in triumph.
My rage filled me instantly, I struggled even harder, but to no avail. It was then I doubted my strength and resolve, would I be able to avenge and honour my now dead father. Or was I to follow in his footsteps and be executed along with him.
Before I could finish that thought, an arrow flew past and struck a wolvir holding me, the arrow hit true and killed the wolvir. Then another struck into more of the king’s guard, this was followed with howling to my side and I saw my whelps rush into battle. I fought off the remainder of my captors, managing to free myself.
Grabbing a nearby weapon, and with the help of my whelps, we managed to kill most of the king’s guard. Only one was left alive, but badly injured. The wolvir who killed my father.
