First Steps

Today is the day where I'm finally going to school without my crutches. Finally, I can walk on my own.

Jasmine still didn't let me drive though.

The moment I got out of my car, I was swarmed by beautiful woman. Each of them wanted to help me, besides Wendy and Astrid who stayed back, but I refused all their help.

"I have to do this myself. I can't rely on you guys for everything," I said. I got out of the car, carried my own bag, and walked to the door. The person I saw inside surprised me the most, Chad.

"Glad to see you up and about," he said. Most of my girls still don't like Chad, but I can't bring myself to hate him.

"I'm surprised you care," I said. Just because I don't hate him doesn't mean I like him.

"HA! I'm not as bad as you think. Just stay out of trouble," he said before walking off.

...

Not much happened during the day until lunch. Frankly, this shouldn't be surprising. Not much happens during most High School days.

"I'm so happy you don't need those crutches anymore," said Amy as she clung to my arm.

"Yeah, so am I. Now I can keep up with you guys," I said. I smirked, and yanked on Lyn's hair.

"AHHHH!" she moaned before glaring at me, making everyone laugh.

"Um, Joseph. Can I ask you something?" asked Emily. I could tell just by looking at her that she was extremely nervous.

"Of course. You can ask me anything," I said. She took a deep breath before speaking.

"Will you go on a date with me?" she asked. I swear I could hear everyone's jaws hit the floor. Wow, I never thought a woman would ask me out on a date.

"I'd love to," I said. I don't think I've ever seen her smile like that before.

"YES!" she exclaimed before throwing herself at me. As I hugged her, a saw a single tear fall from May's eye.

When I got home with Jasmine, there was something waiting for me. A note that was held onto the door by a knife. What it said terrified me.

"'I'm coming for your girls'"
