Wishes from Andor 1/2

Sofiel. She had completed her evening devotional after a long day tending to the sick in the chapel. She looked out the window trying to maintain the state of focused calm her devotion brought her. However, as with the last few nights she could not keep her mind focused. The child she had treated, the young girl whose seacret she now held. The child had the capacity for magic. The curse of magic would lead to enslavement or more likely as she had seen before the pyre as a witch. She had seen it before and the screams of the children as they were burned still haunted her. Then through the window she sees it the fall. A new Dragon was arriving and bringing with it a moment of opportunity. She didn’t stop to think about her choice her life was dedicated to helping others and she would trade her souls or mind to save an innocent. She made her wish asking for the child’s magic to be removed in exchange for whatever the powerful being wanted. She felt an answer in affirmative as a portal snapped open beside her and she knew if she stepped through the child’s magical potential would leave with her.

Celestine. She stood on the practice field looking at the other young noblewoman who had finished their training. In her mother’s time this these young women would have been helping to manage estates, look for suitors, and plan for their wedding. Now the planed defense, practiced at arms and planed for their loved ones funerals. The northern raiders had been pushing hard this generation some great chieftain had united a large number of the tribes and they were pushing hard. Celestine side and slumped as the last of her fellow made knights left. She looked out and felt the tears threatening. Two of her brothers dead one badly hurt and her farther and mother aged beyond their years. If only the sea walls could be built the people could fight from a strong position. It would allow them to hold of the long ships and buy time, time for more men to come of age, time for the rest of the kingdom to send reinforcements, time for her to find a strong man to aide her family. She held back the despair at this point she would even consider the blasphemy of offering herself to one of the few great dragons if it would actually protect her homeland and not just take her and her dowry for its hoard then do nothing. Then as darkness fell she looked up and a streak of fire, it was a dragonfall! This could be the answer. It was blasphemy to wish for a dragons aid, but what had praying to Andea gotten her? Nothing, that’s what, so she stiffened her back and made her wish to the new great dragon as it arrived, if it could create the walls to protect her people then she would offer it whatever it asked. A glowing portrall opened beside her and she knew if she stepped through not only would the walls become real she may find all she dreamed of and more. Taking up her shield and weapons she stepped through.

Tiana. She sat quietly at the roadhouse. It was hard sometimes looking like a child. Even being one of the seven sword saints sometimes people still had a hard time taking her seriously. Looking up she watched as the sun set. This brought back memories and not all good. It had been shortly after her first dragonfall on an evening not dissimilar to this one when she had suffered her most costly failure. The caravan had just gotten settled in for the night when the bandit gang had struck. She had been of praying for guidance and had not been able to get back in time. She had hunted down and destroyed the bandit gang but it had not restored any of the lives lost. And yet still she had continued on in the body of a child watching the world change around her watching the elves brought low, magic bread out of her people and the church she belonged to work to burn out the last of it in the people. She side the flames of devotion could only burn for so long, a crusader could only hold blind faith for so long. She was tired, tired and lonely and wanted her first mistake corrected. She then saw it a third dragonfall. This was her chance, she had passed on the opportunity both times previously not now. She cast her wish out. A portal snapped open. Without hesitation she stepped forward. As she came in contact her body grew and matured as the portal winked out.

Celebron. He sat upon his courser looking out over the camp. He wondered if this would be his last expedition. His father was already trying to push more of the governing of the country onto him. He hatted it, the politics, the scheming nobles, the mediating. He couldn’t stand it. If only his younger brother had Ben first prince instead. His brother loved everything he hated about the court. If only they could switch some how. And then he saw it burning through the night sky. A dragonfall, this was his chance he cast out his wish. A portal snapped open and he road through knowing this would change everything and grant him her freedom.

Varnax. The knight lay dead before him. The powerful scale spawn heaved a breath as he looked over at the castle. The knight had been sent out to face him and drive him of. He had dispatched the human with contemptuous ease and felt only rage. Where was the challenge, the thrill, the glory. He had killed this champion to easily damn him. He needed a great challenge, a final worthy fow. How was his legend supposed to grow if this was the best he could find. We’re where the great heroes of old. As he roared to the sky he saw it. A dragon fall, finally a worthy opponent. He cast out his wish and jumped into the portal as soon as it opened win or loose he would add at least one more battle to his legend.

Azralynn. Azralynn grumbled to herself as she sat in the forest clearing. The blasted drake was being stubborn and not being willing to work with her unless she produced a whelp for it. Blasted dragon, she hadn’t had this much trouble with a dragon in a long time and it was frustrating. She rubbed her stomach, she had no problem laying dragons but birthing whelps was such a time sink and she would be tied to the drake for several years. If only she had the power to become a true Archmage. She wouldn’t have to bicker and trade with these lesser dragons, she could bargain with the truly powerful dragons as an equal. A deep sigh left her lips “Wish in one hand, spit on the other see which one holds something.” Then something caught her attention a distance in the world’s energy. She jerked up and gapped at the burning path in the sky. A Dragonfall, she could hardly believe it, quickly she cast out her wish. For the power of an Archmage she would spend the rest of her life pumping out children for a greater dragon and have no regrets. As the portal snapped open she felt a wicked laugh run up her back, maybe that offer was a little to open, oh well she stepped through.
