Ambassador

Humanity fuck yea

Chapter 1 by Tabbycat Tabbycat

First contact was made between the humans and a species known as the I’Adra in the tail end of the 2020’s. Many in government might have liked to keep this meeting a secret; certainly it would have removed the months of strife that followed the rather large I’Adra craft flying over major cities before landing in the middle of the wilds of Devon, England. That particular bit of wilderness would never remain the same, as the collection of media vans and alien-watcher tents that sprung up overnight would eventually grow into what is now known as Contact City.

The I’Adra, a tall multi-limbed species aided humanity in unifying under a single collective government, brought about a massive improvement in the average living standard and finally introduced humanity to the wider galactic community for reasons that would only become apparent when we first asked about building our own interstellar vessels.

Transit between the stars, it seemed, relied on a dimensional shift called (in translation) “The Weave”. And every sentient species in the galaxy was able to perceive a different part of this weave. While computers could follow pre-planned routes set by wayfarers past through the tangled web, to make new paths required new species. As such, exploration missions that found sentients at the late industrial or later ages were not just allowed but indeed required to uplift those species to the wider galactic community as soon as possible, on the orders of the high council.

Twelve years after first contact, one of the council races - the Velca - contacted Terran Star Command. We were ready at last to begin to take our first steps into the wider galaxy. To that end, the Velca would gather the necessary approvals from other races, and arrange for a ship to be constructed. We had four years to work with their ambassador to Earth to approve initial plans. The vessel would then be built, before making a jump to Terran space for it’s final outfitting in the newly opened Sol shipyards around Titan.

It was after construction began that the final details of our first vessel’s trip to the stars was revealed to the general public. Tradition, it seemed, required that that first flights be ambassadorial in nature - to make strong relationships with the different races of the galaxy - but that it was considered important that the ambassador selected be someone average for their species. In conjunction with the Velcan ambassador, the United Earth Government conducted a grand lottery - a chance for pure human luck to select from the millions of those who met both our government and our sponsor’s requirements for our ambassador. With a population of billions, nearly eight million were eligible; of those some five million applied for the grand lottery - a chance to go out into space, see strange new worlds and meet exotic new lifeforms. Oh, and get your name permanently written into the history books for good measure.

Author's note: All characters in this story are over 18, all those in sexual situations pass the Harkness test and as such are both over 18 and over the age of maturity for their species. I usually aim to add in character ages during their introduction, but this is a catch-all just in case I miss anyone. This isn't my first time writing fiction but it IS my first time writing smut - so expect plenty of plot to go with the "plot" even if it can be slow burning at times.

Also, I'm stealing an idea from another author on here and adding a into the title of any chapters that are pure or primarily sex scenes. No guarantee there won't be casual sexy-times in other chapters, but if you're just looking for *those* scenes you can find them quicker... Please read the plot too though :P

A beginning...
