Chapter 75 by The Other Guy The Other Guy

Does he show?

No but everyone else does ... oh wait that's not good

As you eat your eyes are focused on the door. When it first opens for people you get excited hoping it would be Edin. You're disappointed but not that much as Lucia walks through and waves at you. She grabs a plate and sits next to you. You make small talk about the classes yesterday. As you'd thought the two of you are on different class schedules and as she spoke about the magical theory class your attention was pulled a little away from the door. From how she described it you were super interested. The introductory theory she was give was the one you had been operating under, magic doesn't just respond to your conscious thoughts it also uses your uses your knowledge of a subject.

As she spoke you wondered what Edin would think of this and your eyes drift back to the door. Lucia grasp your lack of attention and instantly takes advantage. "So you're helping me rehearse this afternoon right?"

"Sure." You answer as the door opened and your leaned to get a better view of the new comers. "Wait."

"Too late you already agreed." Lucia grins back.

After a few seconds of staring at her unrelenting expression you roll your eyes. "Only if I'm free after dinner." She doesn't respond but is still grinning at you. Before you can qualify your statement any further three familiar presences arrive.

You look over and see Auria, Oriana and Cynthia walking in together. As you consider how dangerous of a combination that is, Oriana sees you and waves. The other two also see and Auria gives a happy wave as Cynthia give a smaller one. The three grab their food and come to sit down around you.

Lucia makes a move to get away from the upper nobles when Oriana stops her with some questions about her classes. With Lucia vunerable Oriana goes stright for the kill and asks if she was religious at all.

"Not really my Lady." Lucia answers seeming trying to disappear like her dragon.

"That's a shame, Master Christopher will be attending our Church this weekend you would be welcome to join," Oriana doesn't give her a chance to respond before looking at Cynthia. "Miss Cynthia will also be attending for the first time so you won't be alone."

"I might be able to make it." Lucia says looking very awkward.

"Excellent we'll be able to go there together." Oriana says happily.

Lucia looks at you to see a massive smirk. Seeing her talked into doing something almost the exact same way she had just done to your was rather satisfying. She grimaces at you then shakes her head. "Fine but he better come." She nodded at you.

"Oh of course, we could attend Church with out Master Christopher." Everyone looks at you, Lucia looking rather smug.

You shrug. "Already said I would." You realise now you aren't going to be able to wriggle out of it, at least not without something dramatic and possibly Princess related.

Lucia relaxed after that talking with the others about her classes as they share their experiences.

You are probed about your and Cynthia's duel by Auria. Cynthia also asks questions about it, mostly pertaining to how you touched her move her out of the ring. Auria constantly interjected as you explain how chaste you were by asking, hypothetically if you were to have touched her anywhere else would she have felt it and could you do it now so she could know how it feels.

Thankfully the questioning abruptly ends by the latest presence. Vatarie's eyes lock with yours and she smile's happily. She walks over and glares at Auria who had sat next to you until she moves. Sitting next to you she carefully avoids leaning over to you and you can see her breathing through her mouth. Her aura looks much more in control and you can't see any obsession in it. She also asks questions about the duel yesterday though her questions are much more practically minded. How you functioned while moving that fast, how you used magic, how you control it so precisely.

You answered as much as you could and felt yourself relax. This was more like how Vatarie had been before the obsession had strengthened. Her domineering personality easily making the other women comply with her control over your conversation. But even that was nice, she was totally focused on you and you could see her aura swell with interest and affection as you talking about something she was intensely interested in, unarmed combat at apparently an extremely high level.

You felt everyone was getting along much easier than they previously had. As you checked everyone auras you were a little surprise by how melded with each others they were. A blurring of exactly where one aura ended the another began, not to the degree as when you absorbed auras as a group but it looked friendly.

Then you felt another presence and looked over to see Asune walk into the room. You swallow worried how this was going to end. This was the first time you'd seen her in the dinning hall and she saw you right away. She got her food and walked over.

Everyone's conversation chilled as she approached. She took the seat on the other side of you, Lucia very quickly shifting out of her way. The conversation didn't resume for a few seconds until she said. "I'll have to tell Anastasia she isn't the only one who kill a conversation."

You let out a stiffed chuckle and that seemed to relax everyone a little. Vatarie resumed asking you about the duel and Asune joined it. You thought it would being conflict but Asune deferred to Vatarie, asking questions of you that supported what Vatarie had already asked.

Oriana's ability to hold off on proselyting just couldn't survive for this long and she started to inject her own questions directed at Vatarie and Asune. Vatarie brushed them off sounding annoyed at the interruptions but Asune engaged. When Oriana brought up your planned attendance Asune looked at you curiously then said she would be delighted to attend with you. Vatarie suddenly started paying attention at that point and she she would also be attending.

Oriana looked about as smug as it is possible to look as she finished her breakfast. In less than an hour she'd got three new attendees to her Church two of which were upper nobility.

As the breakfast wound down there was still no sign of Edin. As the impromptu breakfast club broke up you concern grew in your chest. You hurried to your room to check if he had come back. You couldn't see his class book so he must have returned to grab it. You should have waited up here for him. Grabbing your own class book you leave the room expecting to see him in class.

Walking out of the dorms you see a familiar carriage but no Anastasia. You figure she must have gone to class ahead of you, not really realist to think she would wait for you to walk with her, because she was a Princess if for no other reason. Maybe she went with Edin.

You entered the lecture building and found your class. It was towards to exterior and as you walked into inside it was very different from the other. Rather than a wall behind the teachers desk there was glass. In fact the front half of the class from was under a glass dome and there was a small but thick tree growing in a corner at the front. Your eyes quickly scan for Edin and with a feeling of relief you see him sitting at a desk with his book open. You take a step towards him when Anastasia calls you over, allowing you to sit next to her. You walk past Edin trying to catch his eye but he is staring at his class book.

That is a little concerning and as you sit next to Anastasia you have to resist turning to look at him.

"Welcome class." The voice come from the front of the room but you can't see anyone there. It's just the bottom of the glass dome, well aside from the tree. "I will instruct you on the theoretic explanations for, and philosophies of magic." The voice differently came from the tree.

Anastasia didn't seem to have any issue with this. You checked the magic and had to blink a few times. The tree was luminescent. You stopped looking at the magic for your own eyes health when the tree shifted. Shrinking into a humanoid form. A very curvaceous female human form.

"For those who are unaware I am an elf." A head and face formed from the wood to make the words. While brown and made of bark their was a matronly expression. This was not what you thought an elf would look like, or be for that matter. You were aware that sentient non-human races existed but you'd never seen any read or heard much more than that.

"Does anyone know how my kind came into existence?"

Does anyone answer the question?
