The next second, John registered the unnaturally pale skin and the bite wound on the man's leg, marking this cadaver as a re-killed zombie. It's a good thing he saw those details first instead of the towel over the man's head, as the lack of a nose lump told John how this creature was killed, and it would've escalated any misunderstanding very quickly.
"It's not what it looks like!" John's savior quickly hissed. John turned to face them; the other occupant was a girl with short red hair, wide green eyes, and wearing a tank top and gym shorts. John guessed she was in the middle of a workout when all this happened. But even if she did decide to dress like that to face off the end of the world, John was hardly one to judge others for their chosen attire.
"It's... a dead zombie, right?" The girl stared at John for a moment before nodding.
"Okay, it's exactly what it looks like." The girl exhaled and slumped to the ground, her back against the door. "A zombie apocalypse, who would've thought, huh?" She tried to laugh, but it came out as a shaky breath that could've led to a sobbing fit. "And they even try to..."
"I know," John breathed out, feeling ready to break down himself but keeping himself together through sheer **** of will. "It... happened to me..."
"Really?" the girl asked in horror. "You mean they...?" John nodded, suddenly self-conscious and not wanting to look at the girl as he revealed what happened to him. The young lady looked at him with sympathy but then grew suspicious. She rose to her feet while eyeing John as if he would attack her.
"And... you're alright?" The girl looked John up and down, searching for any signs of infection. "Cause... I didn't want to say anything, but you sound a bit off."
It was then that John realized he'd been using his normal male voice despite being dressed like a girl. After everything had happened, he'd forgotten what he was wearing and the embarrassing implications of it. Naturally, in the wake of a crisis, his kinks being exposed hardly mattered.
