Chapter 199 by outa outa

Brian takes his turn

The now familiar tiles and decks are arrayed on a small table on the side of the hallway under the portrait of a man who resembles your father but in medieval garb. As Brian approached is he notes the lack of Samantha and James's figures.

Brian : "Huh, I guess we can't use the map as a way to reunite with them, hopefully we'll find a path to them. If they fell down they must be in like, a basement, right?"

Jeeves : "That is a good assumption master Brian."

Alexis : "Doesn't seem like we have much choice in the matter, go ahead and draw, I want to get out of this creepy hallway."

You swear the eyes of the paintings are following you.

Without further comment Brian draws a tile labeled "Trophy Room" adorned with the same trophy symbol that is on the back of the reward deck.

Brian : "Sweet, Events seem pretty hit or miss, lets see what a reward is."

He puts the tile down on the other end of the hallway tile and the door clicks. Brian excited draws a card from the reward deck and reads it aloud.

The winds of fate are fickle, those around you look to you for choice

Brian : "Huh, I guess that sounds good?"

The three of you walk through the next door into a glorious trophy room. The floor is a red velvet and the walls are lined with artifacts and treasures. In the middle of the room is the crown jewel, a case containing a golden scepter.

At Jeeve's gentle suggestion Brian approaches the case which vanishes as he reaches to touch it. He pauses for a moment in surprise but then continues reaching until he's grasped the hunk of metal.

Brian : "I thought it would be cold but it's actually warm to the touch. This might sound crazy but it feels powerful."

You think you feel something too, it's vague and normally you'd have dismissed it as superstition but you felt like so much more was possible now. That you had control of your own destiny. With this new found agency you approach the display stand that seems to have had its treasure removed to make room for the familiar decks and tiles. On intuition and without Jeeve's prodding you draw two tiles instead of one. The coat room and the entrance hall, both bore an event symbol.

Which do you choose?
