Chapter 5

Did the AWIO want to hire the high school dropout?

Yes!

Simon excitedly walked up to the tall building. He had filled out a job application on the AWIO website on his phone the night before and after falling asleep on a park bench, he was woken up by his phone ringing. Hannah from AWIO’s “Human and Monster Resources” was calling him to set up a job interview! They wanted Simon to become a research assistant! Simon’s excitement easily trumped his feeling of being incredibly underqualified for such a job, and he now had an interview at the SHARC at noon!

Despite his excitement building throughout the entire morning, his eagerness quickly turned to fear after he stepped inside the AWIO’s second building thanks to a seven foot tall orc security guard immediately turning and walking towards him. Simon had never felt smaller than when he looked up and saw her two long tusks rising up out of her mouth and her green eyes glaring down at him.

“Why do you have the case?”

Simon nervously looked down at the suitcase he carried into the AWIO before turning back up towards the orc.

“It’s…It’s a long story, but I have an interview here and I…I didn’t have anywhere to leave it.”

Simon remained silent as the orc continued to silently scowl at him. With her snout rising, he realized she was smelling him, and he suddenly became self-conscious of the fact he hadn’t showered since the previous morning.

“Who do you have an interview with?”

“Hannah…”

The orc sighs and holds out her hand.

“I need to search the case”

Simon quickly handed the security guard his suitcase. After setting the case down on one of the lobby’s leather chairs, she opened the suitcase and began rummaging through his clothes. The human took a moment to finally look over the orc’s figure. Her long black hair was braided into a ponytail that reached her waist. Her muscular thighs and calves were straining her black pants, and her giant arms and large breasts were stretching her gray button-up uniform shirt to the point where one flex could cause the garment to rip and tear.

Simon’s ogling stopped when he realized the orc was side-eyeing him. He couldn’t help but blush until he noticed her nostril flared again. Did his clothes really smell that bad? With his body unfortunately sweating even more from him thinking about it, the orc roughly threw his clothes back into the suitcase (not that they were neatly packed before) and shut it before turning to face him with one hand on her hip, the other holding the large case’s handle.

“You can grab this from Britney at the front desk when you’re done.”

The orc quickly spun around, nearly hitting him with her long braid before she stomped towards the lobby’s front desk. The blonde human receptionist didn’t bother looking away from her phone as the orc set the suitcase behind the front desk.

Simon awkwardly sat down on the leather armchair as his mind wandered and his excitement for the interview quickly turned to nervousness. He hoped his interviewers wouldn’t be as intimidating as the orc, and he wondered why of all people they wanted him to be a research assistant.

What would Simon do as a “Research Assistant”?
