He looks online

John pulled out his laptop (a newer model than he remembered having; something was definitely up) and sat on the couch. Where to even begin? He could… no, maybe… or should he…?

Okay, step one: organize his thoughts. He opened up a google doc and started by writing, “1) Assume I’m not going crazy.” He couldn’t be sure of this, of course. This entire thing could be some insane delusion. If that was the case, though, there was nothing to be done, so to move forward he’d have to just take it on face value that he hadn’t lost his mind.

Next, he added, “2) Assume things have actually changed”. He paused, then added beneath it, “2a) or that I’m in an alternate reality.” He wasn’t ignorant of sci-fi, after all.

Feeling like this was progress in some form, John added step 3, “3) Figure out what’s changed (especially with the things I’ve noticed: my own dick, few men/lots of trans women, more sexual advertising).” An obvious avenue to pursue.

Finally, and though he suspected this would be the hardest one, John put down, “4) Why did things change, and how did the change happen?” He’d probably have to tackle that one later. The first three would be a good place to start.

Content with his list, and only mildly feeling like he should be tested for autism, John got to googling.

He started with what his gut told him would be the easiest avenue to pursue—the seeming lack of men, and increase in trans women. As it turned out, they weren’t trans women at all (in fact, nowhere online could he find any reference to trans people, or gender dysphoria. The word ‘transgender’ did exist, but only for some obscure taxonomical thing. It seemed like one of the changes was that either gender dysphoria hadn’t been diagnosed yet, or that people were just always born in the bodies they were meant to be). Instead, the people he had seen were ‘femboys’. He was familiar with the term, but it seemed to have taken on a new level of meaning. Instead of a niche fashion aesthetic, femboys were apparently now a major human demographic outnumbering normal men several times over. While chromosomally male, they were apparently clearly distinct on a biological level—and culturally, treated almost exactly like women.

That led John onto a rabbit-hole deep-dive of research into gender and sexuality, which proved fruitful. From what he could eventually tell, most of the changes had been in that general area.

Most shocking of all, perhaps, were the massive changes that seemed to have occurred to human sexuality. Women’s sex drives had apparently increased by orders and orders of magnitude. He found references to them doing things that would make even the most **** man from the old world (though he was still thinking in terms of changes rather than the ‘2a’ alternate reality scenario, John increasingly was finding himself using the term 'old world' in his head when referring to the way things had been before) look downright tame.

When his searching inevitably led him to… less reputable websites… he found most of the content geared toward women (who he couldn’t help but notice seemed to orgasm extremely, extremely easily. At first he thought it was a porn thing, but a bit more searching made it clear that no—that was how it worked now.) He was particularly surprised to see which tags on those sites were being used; categories like ‘musk’, ‘smegma’, and even more **** ones were grouped in the “most popular” section. John couldn’t deny a little thrill of excitement at that; he’d always found the idea of women enjoying even the grossest aspects of his body tantalizing.

Moving back away from porn, he discovered that there now existed a medicine called Pregnex—a birth control pill for both sexes, apparently used almost universally on account of its complete lack of side effects. Curious, John got up and went to his own medicine cabinet. Sure enough, he found a couple packs of the stuff.

Once back at his laptop, he noticed that he couldn’t seem to find reference to any STDs outside of historical documents (many of which were referring to the dates when said diseases were cured). So that was nice. Even nicer was that while researching the more medical side of things, he found what seemed like a partial answer to the question of his enlarged penis.

Apparently, average penis size had gone up, and by quite a bit (for proper men, at least. The separate charts he found for femboys suggested they were a good bit smaller than was normal even for the old world). About two full inches. However, from what he could see, 15 inches was still extremely big even by the changed standards. That was what actually clued him in.

His old eight-inch penis had been at the 99.99th percentile, almost on the dot. And, as it happened, 15.1 inches was at that exact same percentile for the new distribution of sizes, which had many more upward outliers. So, it seemed that when the changes happened, instead of just tacking on two inches to his existing length, he'd instead been scaled to the same position relative to the average. Quite a blessing, especially considering how favorably the changed women seemed to look upon large dicks.

Shame he was no closer to figuring out why any of that had happened.

Once he felt like he had a pretty good grasp on how sexuality had changed (and trying not to get too excited about how all the changes seemed to work in his favor), he moved on to other areas.

Finding the Pregnex had made him wonder about changes to his own life. He’d also noticed by this point the mild little improvements to his apartment. Checking through his email and phone, it seemed like his life was still largely the same—same job, same friends, same family—but with little tweaks.

Same job, yes, but slightly better pay. If his text message history were to be believed, his bosses—all femmes, a word he’d discovered was used to describe women and femboys collectively—also treated him a little more favorably, probably on account of hoping to get into his now much-more-desirable pants. That at least explained the little upgrades he’d noticed to his living situation.

Next, same friends... in theory. Same names in his contacts list, even pretty much the same recent text conversations. However, the deeper he looked, the more differences he spotted. Apparently, of his male friends, only one remained a proper man—his friend Tom. The rest had become femboys—and from some of the texts he found, it seemed he’d fucked most of them, as well as almost all of his female friends! That one took John a moment to process; especially the fact that he’d apparently had sex with other men—or at least other technically-males. He was actually surprised at how little this bothered him, though. Maybe it was just because it was apparently normal in this new world (when had he started thinking of it as a new world instead of just changes?), but he didn’t really end up having the crisis of sexuality he might have expected. The femboys were cute—and frankly, barely male. His research suggested that other normal men didn’t seem to have a problem with it, so why should he?

Finally, same family. Sort of. Same mother and father, same birthplace and largely the same upbringing. He was even still an only child—technically. However, he apparently now had a large set of half-siblings, the result of the dozen other marriages his father belonged to. From what he could tell, they were a mix of half-sisters and femboy half-brothers—he was the only real man born to the family.

It was jarring, frankly, to look at text conversations with siblings he knew nothing about, but apparently had also known for years. His confidence in step 1 of his list—to assume that he wasn’t crazy—wavered here a bit, if he was honest. There was so much evidence of him having a full life in this world; a life he couldn’t remember. What if it was just some sort of memory flaw? Dementia, or amnesia, or some weird psychosis?

He had to **** himself away from that line of thought. Ultimately what helped him squash it was the simple fact that he’d rather choose to live as if it weren’t all in his head, rather than constantly doubt his own mind. He’d met people with dementia. He knew what it looked like, and it didn’t look like this.

A full-on crisis of confidence averted, John turned to trying to figure out what exactly had happened to him. Unfortunately, step 4 proved elusive. Despite the last hour of his research being dedicated entirely to the topic, he couldn’t find any reference to any sort of reality shifting or retroactive changes—at least, none that struck him as anything but a crazy person’s ramblings. It seemed that as far as reputable sources went, at least, awareness of the changes—or new reality, or whatever had happened—was a phenomenon unique to him.
