“Currently? She seems to be warming up to me instead of just hating me. With that, she seemed to cuddle up to your arm and seemed glad that you were able to have some peace of mind about an issue that had been on your mind for longer than you would have liked.

This wasn’t something you wanted to dwell on for too long but having some time at school today to be able to think on your own, as well as having some time with Grace or with any of your other subjects to deal with your own problems felt like a good start to staying on top of your issues.

There was no point trying to keep everyone happy if you yourself were falling apart at the seams. Even Lucy earlier had been worried about your health, which granted did seem slightly out of character for her, but it did highlight that people were there for you if you needed them.

You and Emma ended up laying back on your bed instead of just sitting off on one side and it felt like you got to catch up with her and things you had missed. Not the day to day details of your life that she could catch up on in her dreams, but how you were both feeling at the moment and how much it felt like both of your lives had changed despite nothing changing at all.

Of course there was some kissing and making out involved as you enjoyed some tender moments together but you were both aware that there was a ticking time bomb for Emma as her invisible effect would end eventually. You knew there was extra time left for her but it was a building anxiety for the both of you that you would rather not have to deal with.

The drink you had grabbed was nearly empty so it gave you an excuse to go downstairs and to the kitchen to see Emma out without you randomly just going into the kitchen to open the back door. Without being able to say goodbye at the door, you shared one final kiss at the top of the stairs before you went to the door and saw her leave, getting no interruptions or unexpected guests like last time.

The air was even colder than before and you saw Emma scamper off to her house as quickly as she could, giving you little time to watch her before you made yourself a new drink.

With Emma now gone, you had no more plans for the night except a potential phone call with Izzy before you went and found Mom. Given the conversation you had had with Emma about Izzy’s role in the group, it felt like you should maybe address her situation but in this moment, it didn’t feel right.

It felt like you had had a long day and just adding more into the mix when it was this late didn’t seem like it would be a good idea. You had a lot to prepare for tomorrow and that was after a day of exams at school, both of which you wanted to prioritise. Even adding in the conversation you now needed to have with Sarah about the KDK and any other random things that popped up, likely meant you were going to be busy.

Instead, you finished off your drink and cleaned the glass, heading over to the living room and poking your head inside to see if anyone else was still around or if they had all gone upstairs.
