Birthday for Eos

Several more memories of Fidelisa watching the young child grow, then when she reached Eos’s fourteenth birthday. Alexis finds herself in a large library, a young girl is seated at an oak desk, as the imp approached her.

Placing a hand on the young woman’s shoulder, “Mistress Eos, we should go, your mother is expecting us.”

The girl looked up, her eyes pleading for more time, “aww, Mistress Puellia, just a few more minutes, I am almost done with this book.”

Fidelisa rolled her eyes, unable to deny her charge anything, “okay, I guess dear, but please hurry, I don’t want to make Lady Metis wait.”

Eos sighed deeply, as she read the last chapter of the book, taking a deep breath, as she looked up over her shoulder. “Okay, Mistress Puellia, I’m ready.”

The two women walked through the halls of the nursery with Alexis finding herself drawn to follow them. Entering a dining hall, several demons were gathered chatting among themselves, but turning to smile as Eos entered the room.

One woman, who Alexis recognized as Eos’s mother strolled confidently over to the girl, “Darling where have you been? I hope not causing trouble for Mistress Puellia.”

Fidelisa smiled at the woman, offering a bow, “of course not Lady Metis, Lady Eos is a lovely young lady.”

Eos beams at the praise of her tutor, nodding, “See mother, I am a good girl.”

Just then there was a commotion at the door, as the demons parted the regal sight of King Belphegor entering and marching towards the young lady.

Eos, bounced seeing the demon, “Daddy, you made it!”

His voice boomed in the hall, “Of course I did, I could not miss, my little princess’s birthday. How are you Eos?”

She ran over to him, being lifted into the air, as the king hugged her tightly. The girl giggled, “I am wonderful, thank you so much daddy.”

Fidelisa had bent a knee in a deep curtsy to his highness, her head bowed. Seeing this the king laughed, “Mistress Puellia, there is no need for formalities here, we are not in court, and you are practically a member of our family.”

The imp blinked, “you are too kind your majesty.”

The party continued with everyone enjoying themselves and so happy. Fidelisa pondering how proud she was of the young woman has grown so confident from the girl she once met hiding in the folds of her mother’s dress. Yet here she was effortlessly mingling with her royal family and friends. She could not help but think that this child is meant for great things, and before she knew it she would be leaving her and the nursery. Sighing deeply, as this memory to slowly faded, being replaced by another.

Several other memories played out for Alexis, showing how happy and peaceful life was for the young lady Eos and her tutor, Fidelisa. The vibrant memories, filled with laughter and warmth, began to feel distant, as though a veil was being drawn over them. Slowly, an unsettling red haze seeped into the edges of her vision, consuming the light and ushering in a new memory cloaked in dread.
