Chapter 4 by Zebra Zebra

Orc's son on the throne...

The ugly bastard prince...

The baby is born with a dark olive complexion unlike his mothers pale white one. He has a upturned pig like pug nose, beady black eyes and a pronounced lantern jaw. He has coarse raven black hair unlike the Kings blonde hair. Still he is a big baby with a strong body, he will grow into a mighty warrior one day.

If only...

If only it was his destiny to live to see that day...

The courtiers whispers filled the castle halls as word spread about Prince Kael's arrival. His dark olive complexion, contrasting with his mother Queen Isolde's fair skin, had the people questioning his lineage. His upturned nose, beady eyes, and pronounced jaw only added to their gossip. But deep down, Queen Isolde knew that Kael was her son, and she loved him fiercely...

However, the noticeable features of the half-orc appearance of the baby caused a shock in a narrow circle of court dignitaries especially close to the monarch.

King Eadric himself was so stunned by what he saw that he probably experienced some kind of mental shock.

For years, the old king neglected his wife, did not pay her due attention and indulged in selfish entertainment such as gambling, drinking or ... more exotic things.

And now the result is visible - his wife committed adultery and gave birth to a baby of half-orc origin.

This event is simply terrible ...

This event entails prospects of an unpredictable nature ...

If you do what is supposed to be done (execute the queen for adultery), then this will cause indignation and blood feud on the part of her aristocratic relatives. After all, Isolde's father - thane Marbert Glanef, owns lands in the northwest of the kingdom and has significant armed detachments under his command. He is one of the king's largest vassals... He, using his influence, will surely convince most of the king's northern vassals (most of them bear the title of "thane", as they are descendants of the old tribal nobility that owned small mountain valleys in those regions even before Teinarel the Rockclimber united the surrounding lands and founded the Kingdom of Eborvair about two hundred years ago) to join his rebellion.

That is, the public sentencing of his daughter and her execution will almost inevitably lead to a large-scale feudal rebellion and civil war in the Kingdom of Eborvair.

In addition, if the public disclosure of what happened among all the subjects of the kingdom is allowed, it can lead to a catastrophic decline in the prestige of the royal dynasty and mass unrest.

"The queen was fucked by an orc and she gave birth to a half-orc baby!" - this shocking news can cause chaos among the plebs...

Probably because of such disturbing thoughts, King Eadric at an emergency meeting of the royal council forbade the use of radical methods to solve the problem and ordered to stop the spread of rumors that discredit the honor of the ruling dynasty.

The king was clearly going to wait for some time to come up with a safer solution to the problem that had arisen...

But gossip still could not be completely avoided...

After all, the noble court dignitaries knew everything about what had happened...

Despite the courtiers's whispers, Isolde saw past his son's appearance and recognized the strength and power in the baby's strong physique. She envisioned a mighty warrior growing from this infant, ready to protect their kingdom against any threats.

In the royal nursery, young Prince Kael was cared for by a team of skilled nurses. Despite his unconventional looks, they adored him. They watched as he grew, his raven black hair in stark contrast to the blonde hair of his... "father"-king.

One day, as the prince was nearing his first birthday, Queen Isolde decided to host a grand ball in his honor. She wanted to show the court that she was proud of her child, no matter his appearance. And so, the castle bustled with preparations.

Only representatives of the most noble aristocratic families were to attend the ball...

The king permitted this event, guided by some of his own considerations...

As the night of the ball arrived, guests from all over the kingdom filled the grand hall, whispering amongst themselves about the mysterious baby prince. They were all curious to see the child for themselves. Queen Isolde, radiant in her ball gown, held her baby son close, beaming with pride.

***

As Prince Kael grew older, his mother ensured he received the best education, teaching him the ways of a king. Despite his physical appearance, Kael was kind, intelligent, and strong-willed. The whispers of the courtiers began to fade as they realized the true character of the young prince.

However, positive hopes alone were clearly not enough to ensure well-being...

The night after the ball, something terrible happened in the Segh-Teinarel castle...

The baby Kael was sleeping in his bedroom.

His nurses were on duty, unaware of the lurking danger. The assassins silently broke into the room, their knives glinting in the dim light.

It seemed that the helpless infant's **** was inevitable...

But his mother slept in the same room with him every night, reasonably anticipating the possibility of the most terrible events.

The child woke up and seemed to instinctively sense the presence of malevolent strangers in the room...

He screamed so loudly that Isolde instantly woke up and grabbed her sharp dagger, forged from a rare and durable material called "mithril".

When the first killer rushed at the infant, a swift stabbing blow was delivered by a woman's hand across the movement of his body.

The tip of the dagger pierced the flesh and bone in the chest area...

A profuse spray of blood...

Queen Isolde was overcome by the desire to protect her child at any cost, despite the risk of her own ****.

There were still two killers in the room, dressed in leather armor.

Their faces were hidden behind masks made of dark fabric.

The assassins were taken by surprise by the queen's sudden appearance...

But they still began to use their skills.

Isolde felt extremely painful wounds in a second...

A pair of assassins quickly surrounded her and attacked her with throwing daggers.

Blood began to flow profusely from Isolde's right shoulder.

A second wound in her left arm (near the elbow) also caused the woman excruciating pain.

It was obvious that the queen had very little chance of surviving a fight against two trained assassins...

Baby Kael continued to scream very loudly...

The next second, a group of elite royal guards burst into the room and immediately attacked the two assassins.

The room was filled with the clanking of steel, screams and the rumble of bodies falling to the ground.

The steel of swords and spears pierced the bodies of the two scums who were trying to kill the baby...

"All the assassins are dead... Not a single one is left to interrogate and find out who ordered the ****..." - these were the last thoughts in Isolde's mind before she fell to the floor exhausted from blood loss.

So, the would-be assassins were defeated.

Prince Kael and Queen Isolde remained unharmed, although shaken by the painful experience.

But what does the future hold for Isolde and Kael?
