A Putnam Family Thanksgiving
The Putnam family was distinguished, it was clear. They had their home base in the Texas Panhandle, but their tendrils spread throughout Texas, to the West Coast, and the East Coast. There was Barbie Putnam, a beautiful, sex-positive blonde beauty. There was Chad Putnam, a former professional football player and politician in Florida. There was Sam Putnam, a prominent lobbyist in California. There was Presley and her siblings from John Putnam's political prime, all of who were in their ascendant phase. The only real black sheep that Mo could see was Joanie Putnam, John Putnam's eldest daughter. She ran a sex store in San Francisco, and he could see that Barbie doted upon her eldest stepdaughter and was highly protective of her.
The Putnams had a family tradition. Proposals were made after Thanksgiving dinner, and Thanksgiving was always spent with the Putnams. Mo was sure that Presley would say yes, but it didn't stop his palms from sweating, or him from internally stuttering on his speech. And in the end, he abandoned it.
Instead, he knelt simply at the end of dinner, looking into Presley's piercing blue eyes.
"I know I'm new to this family ... but I know that you're the most special woman I've come across Presley, even with our ... ideological differences," Mo said. The table laughed nervously. "I ... I want you to be my wife, baby. Will you?"
Her eyes were wet with tears now. "Of course I will, Mo." She kissed him, and whatever tension was in the room ebbed as her passion for him waxed.
