Well, I could do that. I told her a heavily altered version of my encounter with Zsasz and my training with the other guards. Jenna brought out a bottle of wine, and we all shared a few glasses, as we ate. The food was good, but Cory was more focused on the wine and me, which prompted her to ask if the pic she’d seen had been real. I managed to turn a smirk into an embarrassed look. “Saw that, did you?”

“I ain’t a perv, or anything, I’m not hiding anything from my girl!” Jenna said hugging Cory around the shoulders. That got her a kiss on the cheek, but Cory’s brown eyes remained locked on me.

“So, she knows about the competition, right?”

“Of course,” but Jenna looked away.
