Chapter 65 by Dandyman Dandyman

What's next?

Father’s warning

My father Farex, let himself inside without permission. He had a similar build to myself, but his eyes were orange as opposed to my blue ones. He looked serious, one hand holding the pommel of the sword attached at his hip. In the other hand, he held a large flask. I followed him as he entered the main room. Elle, Kali and Bee were gathered around the dining table.

“Leave us. I wish to talk to my father alone.” They understood the tone in my voice and left to go into the spare bedroom.

“Are they all your bitches?” My father asked in his gruff voice. “You always had a thing for humans. And the red haired one, are you going to make her your mate? I saw the choker around her throat.”

“Yes. When the next ceremony is available, I will make her my mate.” I told him.

“Make sure she doesn’t get jealous, with another two bitches already. Humans hold onto that emotion so easily, they don’t fully understand our ways.” He said.

“I’ll make her understand. If I need to.” I growled low.

Make her conform. And accept her role!

“Good. Bitches need to know their place.”

On their knees. For my cock!

He sat at the table and undid his flask. He motioned for me to join him. As I sat at the table opposite him, he drank a heavy swig. He offered me the flask, I took the flask and tasted my favourite ale on my tongue.

“I bring bad news, Fenrin. The kingdom is falling into ruin.” He said solemnly.

“What do you mean?”

“It’s started to go downhill before you left to become an adventurer. The king was making stupid decisions. Sending wolvir to be annihilated by hostile forces. A lot of our warriors have been killed by the Klishk orc tribe.” He explained.

The Klishk orc tribe were on a neighbouring county to us. We have had skirmishes and battles with them for many years, but none had ever really gained an upper hand on the other.

“How many did we lose?”

“Two thousand in one battle, their fatalities didn’t even make it into the hundreds. We lost another thousand half a year ago. And the worst yet just last month. Nearly five thousand.”

“How. Did you not-.” I began.

“No, I was not leading them. The king sent green warriors to lead in fights against insurmountable odds, and failed miserably.” He continued. “We are at our weakest we have ever been. Thanks to the misguided and foolish decisions of the king. This is why I sent you away. I knew something like this was on the horizon. And I promised your mother before she died that you would not be swept up in pointless war.”

“I can handle myself.” I snarled.

“Not like this Fenrin. Believe me. The king sent our experienced warriors against the largest armies of the orcs, not enough on our side. We were overwhelmed to easily. You may have been apart of that first wave, all wolvir that were sent, died.”

We continued to drink.

“Fen, your successes have reached me. I have kept a close eye on you. Using my own network of scouts and spies. You have done well fighting in that human’s war. Maybe your talents can be used to help usurp the king.”

“And who would replace him?”

“A better wolvir. One that won’t destroy our kingdom.”

I felt angry that he now wants my help. This could cause infighting, although not uncommon among wolvir, if father told me about us being at our weakest, this wasn’t a great move to make.”

“I will call on you when I have my next stage in my plan in motion.” He stood and begun to leave.

“Father, seriously. This is how you wish to meet after my time away from home. Tell me you are staging a coup, that you want me to join you, then leave.”

“It’s more complicated than you think. Make sure you visit the shaman. Then we will talk some more. There is something else you need to know, and it’s about yourself.” With that he reached the door and left my new home.

I felt my anger boil up inside me, how could he leave with cryptic words and unresolved issues. I heard a noise from the hallway and went to investigate. I saw Bee creeping back toward the main room.
