Lay her own trap

Eva's thoughts went back to her last encounter with the stranger. She recalled how her clothes had completely fallen apart in that situation, much to her embarrassment. Crucially, she remembered that all of it had happened without the stranger having moved a muscle. Was it because of some kind of advanced tech that she didn't know about?

Still, it didn't exactly matter how they had done it - the question was, how could she stop it from happening again?

She decided the best course of action was to immobilize her target before they could act, and then dispossess them of whatever tech they had. She needed to catch them off guard.

But first, she needed to survey her surroundings, which was next to impossible in the darkness. She had anticipated this, though, and had a solution: a pair of what looked like normal glasses, except with infrared vision. After putting them on, it was time for the piece de resistance.

She had been asking Jim for something like this for a long time, and much to her delight - he had delivered. On its surface, the object was a small unassuming sphere, the size of a pebble. Its true purpose, though, was the ultimate trap. When activated, the device would deploy a net made of special high-strength thread, ensnaring its victim. To ensure the target wouldn't move, the net was mildly electrified, not enough to cause harm but more than enough to immobilize a person for a while.

She used some handy adhesive to stick this on the roof. Thanks to her suit, she could snap her fingers and deploy it as soon as her target came within range. The effect of the net should last long enough for her to question her target on how they were able to do what they did. Once her curiosity was sated, she would radio Lexi and they would bring them in to base for questioning.

Speaking of which, Lexi had been quiet on radio for a while. It was likely because she was keeping a low profile and making her way from the other side of the building, thought Eva. It suited her - she didn't want her to show up and try to upstage her, especially when she had some very burning questions of her own that she wanted answered.

Her plan all set, she looked at the time: 2 minutes to go. Her target would be here any moment.

At the ready, she stood her ground, exactly at the location written on the note.
