... But the beginning of another.

After all of this well, it was the night already, and you wanted some well-deserved rest after all you've been going through, so you went to bed, not in Rei's room, since her parents weren't specially eager for you to do so, but in a guest room, while Fuyu slept with Rei in her room.

You thought you would have a peaceful slumber, as you seemed to always have recently, but... No.

You opened your eyes in the middle of a familiar dark place, and it was clear that you would hear voices soon enough, so you simply waited for them to start talking. What you heard first was... A voice that you didn't really think you would hear.

"Oh, why would Chaos itself come to see me ?" The Kitsune Goddess asks. "I believe I haven't done anything worth getting threatened with empty threat, have I ?"

"Indeed, I am not here to threaten you." Answered Zeromus, following his words directly with. "But I wonder : why would you give the most dangerous of all kitsunes to the one targeted by Balance ?"

For now, there was only one new thing in their conversation, after all, you've already heard of you being the target of the God of Balance, and so you were understanding that Zeromus was talking about the Kitsune Goddess making Fuyu follow your every order. The one thing that you didn't know, was that Fuyu was... The most dangerous of all kitsunes ? But why...

Interrupting your thoughts, the Kitsune Goddess replied.

"You see, I know the God of Balance will not try to manipulate her, firstly because my orders are absolute for any kitsune, and secondly because he won't use any innocent people to try and... Pacify his targets, we will say."

"He is growing **** though." Calmly said Zeromus, his tone not betraying any emotion. "And when he is ****, he starts using questionnable methods. You know what I am talking about."

"I do remember, Zeromus. This god can be a menace, after all. And well, judging from the move he made, your human will understand it all too well."

"Oh, right... I hope he didn't forget about the whole being wanted thing, because his friends sure will not forget it for a while."

Now you had a very bad feeling about what was happening, and you just coumdn't focus on the rest of their conversation anymore, letting it fade away in the background as questions rushed to your mind, with the main one being : just what was happening ?

It didn't take long before you woke up, not sweating at all, but still confused by what you heard about your friends, and more importantly, the bad feeling still being there. So you quickly dressed up and got to Rei's room, where both Rei and Fuyu were slowly waking up. Since waking up slowly was far too slow for you, you decided to shake them a bit to help them, which made at least Rei react, in a sleepy tone.

"Just what are you doing, Adam...?" She asked, shortly before yawning, but quickly starting to get worried as she noticed your apparent anxiety.

"We don't have time." You answer. "I have a very bad feeling about our friends, and I'm afraid that the God of Balance has done something to them."

Rei simply replied with a nod, understanding the gravity of the situation, before getting up and helping you completely wake Fuyu up. After a brief explanation of the situation, the two girls quickly prepared themselves, before the three of you were ready to go.

You searched Rei's parents for some time, finally deducing that they were still sleeping. Even though the three of you wanted to say goodbye to them, you knew you didn't have time, and so Rei wrote a small letter that she left on the kitchen's counter, before you all headed outside, quickly starting your way back.
