Adapted

It was a life of hardship for Faith. She spent her days with her husband Amar, well outside of Islamabad. She couldn't travel without being accompanied by Amar or one of his brothers. She was heavily veiled, for if anyone knew she was a white American, she'd be kidnapped.

In spite of the harsh climate and impoverished lifestyle, she'd come to identify with the beliefs of her owner. She'd converted to Islam with the Sheikh, but now she meant it when she got onto her hands and knees, pressing her forehead to the carpet in their home, praying to Allah. She spoke only Arabic, and she raised her sons and daughters to be the future of jihad. And when Amar took her every night, she praised Allah then, too.
