Chapter 69 by outa outa

Next you

Check out some more stands

You say goodbye to Huxley after promising to consider the diplomatic core. The idea that a runt of a farm boy would be rubbing shoulders with kings and heads if state does tickle you. You assume the guild would put you through extensive training on manners and proper behavior.

You and Tritera go between several more stands collecting pamphlets and listening to pitches. There's a music club that sounds interesting and offers training in a number of odd looking instruments. A sailing club that boasted a whole fleet of boats to prepare casters for a life at sea. A fashion club for people interested in weaving complicated robes and costumes. A dancing club that offered lessons in dance styles from all over the realm. Tritera insisted you give this one a try, especially if you decided against joining a geri ball team. You think her motives might be a little impure, but you appreciate her looking out for you in her own way.

Finally you come across a table advertising coordinated combat training. You had expected that combat would be part of your basic training. A young confident looking man sees your confusion.

Taylor : "hi, I'm Taylor. This is the fighting club. Interested in joining up?"

Jessica : "Hi Taylor, I'm Jessica, do we not learn how to fight in our normal classes?"

Taylor : "kind of, but not like what we do. In your normal classes you'll learn how to use basic spells, like how to cast attacks or block hostile spells. We offer more advanced tactics, especially for working in concert with your fellow casters."

Tritera : "He's right, the guild doesn't directly teach combat beyond self defense. It's partially a reputation thing, the guild wants to be known for producing mostly industrious and helpful members and having it known that the core curriculum includes lessons of how to fight would be bad for that image. That said, most prospects do spend some time in the fighting club."

Taylor : "Well put miss Knightly. The club offers all levels of commitment. You can come in whenever you want for basic to advanced lessons or join a team and practice working together in different scenarios. We even have a weekly four versus four coed fighting league."

You take the paper he hands you and promise to think about it.
