"Can I just know where we are headed ?" You eventually ask, interested in the answer, since you had no idea at all of where you were going.

"Well, it's quite simple." Rei answered. "We are headed to the place where every single vixen is born until now : Nakemo Village. It is considered as a whole country by others, but it is only a few thousands of square kilometers. Since vixens aren't quite a lot nowadays, because of the fact that we used to be seen as priced slaves, we don't need much territory. Yet our population has been steadily growing, so negotiations with other countries such as the Elder Lands are on the table for now."

You listened carefully to her explanations, after all, you were interested by all of this, and her mention of the vixens being slaves at some point in their history made you curious. Why would they be seen as priced slaves ? And that drove you to ask almost that exact question.

"Wait, you mentionned that vixens used to be priced slaves, but what is the reason for that ?" You said.

You knew that this subject was quite the slippery one. This wasn't really the best thing to talk about with a vixen after all, since well... Slavery isn't the best subject of conversation with the one whose people used to be slaves themselves... Yet Rei seemed open to talk about this, and when she started her reply, you let out a small sigh of relief.

"In all honesty, I asked myself the question when I was little. It turns out that since we have a good affinity with Illusion Magic, and some of us turns into kitsunes after ****, we are quite the valuable asset for some aristocrats and others. That is why the queen of the Elder Land has a kitsune as her right hand as an example."

This information did not spark any question within you this time, since you had the explanation of why kitsunes were seen as useful for noble people. But this was weirding you out, and not only a bit. You yourself couldn't think about a situation where you would see someone as plainly valuable for your own objectives. How is that even considered as an option in this world ? And why Rei seems to be so casual about it ?...

After a bit of thinking though, you remembered that this world was also a world where goddess have sex with you to see if you are worth their gifts, so maybe you needed to have a mind quite a bit more open than this...

"And just how far is this village ?" You decide to ask, since you needed to focus on something else, and the question was one you needed to ask far sooner than this.

"We have... Three weeks of walking." Rei casually answered, clearly ready to walk three weeks straight.

"That won't do." You reply back. "We walk for today, and tomorrow we find a caravan or something like that that would take us, because it's going to be far too long otherwise, and I don't think I'll survive three weeks of walking."

Rei giggled when you finished your sentence. But she was **** to admit that you were right. She herself has seen quite a bit of times just how much better her stamina was when compared to yours, and even though your stamina has improved since you arrived in this world, it hasn't done so in a very significant way. You could tell that you had more, but not a lot more at all.

"You are right, Adam." Rei eventually said. "I can't make you walk three weeks straight, or you will end up falling ****, and that is the last thing I want to happen. So I'll follow your plan."

For the rest of the day, you continued walking, chatting a bit here and there as you passed by some mildly interesting things, while the rest of the time you were far more concentrated on the road ahead, the both of you feeling excited to get to your destination. Rei because she would get to see her family, and you because it meant new discoveries, and you felt like you started to like discovering new things in this world quite a bit.

Hours and hours passed by, and eventually, the sun started going down, disappearing behind the horizon. Something that was crazy to you is that you only got out of the forest four hours ago, which was showing the immensity of this forest. For now though, you were walking through the plains, and the sun going down was the sign that you needed to set up camp now.
