You change the subject, who is Jasmine

Jessica : "Speaking of mentors, Bill mentioned someone named Jasmine you would have contacted. She had gone through something like I did?"

Tritera : "oh yes, Jasmine isn't a regular teacher, we don't need a specialist in transfiguration most years and anyone can teach the few generalist spells. So she's been out pursuing her own projects. For rare specialities it's more of an apprenticeship than the more common ones. You'll probably be expected to mentor the next transfigurationist that comes along, although that could be a hundred years from now."

Jessica : "does that mean I'm the only tranfigurer in brawford right now?"

You hadn't quite realized just how rare this speciality was.

Tritera : "it's very possible, but it's hard to know who is in the various manors. You're definitely the only student with that specialty."

Jessica : "So this Jasmine, she grew up as a boy too?"

Tritera : "from what I've heard through the grape vine but it's not really something that gets brought up frequently in casual conversation. She's more known for being quick witted, tricky and well transfiguration lends itself to fun party tricks..."

You have no idea what she could mean by that last one but it felt good to know your current predicament needn't define your life.

Jessica : "When will I get to meet her?"

Tritera : "She should be there for the start of the year events Monday, like all the mentors. Speaking of start of year events today will be you're last night here, tomorrow we're going to get you set up in the sorceresses' dormitory."

You gulp. You knew this was coming but thought you might have another day. It made sense to get set up ahead of time but Tritera's tower had been a sanctuary that you could escape to at the end of the day and safely digest all that had happened. You felt like you were about to be flung out on your own.

Tritera : "don't worry honey, I'm not going anywhere. Bill and Jasmine will be your magical mentors but I'll always be here if you need someone else to talk to. Keep the amulet and let me know if you ever need any help, especially with boys!"

You had to laugh at that last bit, at least you hoped she was joking.
