Reparations

"Okay, as we practiced, pet," Latoya said, watching Katie carefully. The white girl had just cashed her entire paycheck from her new position working in the campus kitchens.

Katie went up to the first Black man she saw, giving him twenty dollars.

"I apologize for the sins of my ancestors, and for the privilege I still bear from it," Katie said, her big blue eyes soft with tears. "I know this is but a minor recompense, but I will do this every two weeks now."

"You want to hook up, baby girl?" the Black man said, grinning lecherously.

"She's a lesbian," Latoya said coldly. "Take what has been offered and be on your way."

It wasn't long before Katie had no cash left. Latoya kissed her passionately.

"You'll share my bed now. I am very proud of you, Katie."
