Chapter 72 by Doobler Doobler

One emergency essay-writing session later…

… and Hannah is sitting with a flash drive of a paper she’d written with Leonard and Jenny’s guidance, pouting.

“I still don’t see what the problem was, everyone else in class didn’t wanna write it either.” Hannah sighed, having spent a good few grueling hours to actually write her own essay under the guidance of her mother and her mother’s new partner. “Now the day’s almost over.”

Leonard shook his head. saying “Well being able to write your own essay is important. It teaches you how to form your opinions with evidence and sources, and look at things with a critical eye. If you make a computer do that stuff for you, you’re not getting full use of your brain or your mind.” as he sat with Hannah on the couch.

“I guess? I still didn’t like doing it.”

“Neither did I at first. But after enough times, I liked it enough to decide on an English major in college. Probably not the best decision, but still.” Leonard sighed, as he remembered the least enticing part of his resume.

Still, she had a point that a good chunk of the day was now gone. She’d arrived at around 9:00 am, and now the clocks showed something in the ballpark of 2:00 pm. Jenny chuckled “Hey, there’s still lots to do! Like, uh… video games! I got a new console, so why don’t you try it out?” as she motioned to her apartment’s entertainment system. A PS5 still in its box was placed next to the TV, clearly not yet set up.

“… guess OnlyFans has been kind to her. It’s only been a week, maybe starting out as Jerry means she has an instinctive understanding of what guys want in an online erotic model…?” Lenny pondered, before saying “Okay, let’s put it together then.” as he looked to Hannah and Jenny.

With that, the three began the arduous task of setting up the newly bought console quick enough to actually make use of it by the day’s end.

A good amount of time later, and the trio had hooked the console up to the TV. Once they powered it on, Jenny said “… fu—crud, I forgot to get any games. But, uh… that’s fine! We can just all head to a Best Buy or a GameStop, tons of ways we can get games quick!” before she dashed to slip on her shoes.

Leonard had already texted Erica the situation earlier, so she and the others in his apartment wouldn’t be wondering where he and Jenny went, but this new development had him sighing as he sent another message.

[jens gna go 2 smwhr fr gamz] [gt a PS5 n no gamz 2 ply on it]

[ok, no prob] [were gud hr go wth hr n hanna]

With that reply, he moved to get ready to leave too, though once he stood up he remembered his shoes were in the apartment over. While Hannah got ready by the door, he pulled Jenny aside and whispered “I need to get back into my apartment, my sneakers are there.” as he gestured to his sock-clad feet.

“… you know what, might as well rip the band-aid off. Hannah, I got a cool new trick to show you, thanks to my new boy-toy!” Jenny exclaimed, and grabbed a paper platter from a stack on her kitchen’s counter.

After a demonstration of Jenny’s no-clip abilities, and a truncated explanation of Leonard’s “Point Transfer” that didn’t fully delve all of the other women he’d slept with/impregnated, Hannah was astounded at what had happened to her father-turned-mother and the man who’d impregnated said mother.

With that settled, the trio piled into Jenny’s car. Leonard sat in the passenger seat, and Hannah was behind him asking a variety of questions about what he could do with his apparent superpower. Among the hurricane of queries, she brought up a very pertinent topic when she gasped “Wait, so you’re saying Mom was originally a guy? Oh my gosh, that explains so much…”

“What? No way, I’m fu—very comfortable with my body, why would I have been a dude before?” Jenny asked, incredulously. “Like, I wake up every day with ti-breasts and a… you know, and I feel like a million bucks. And you’re saying I was a guy at the start? I tell you, total nightmare scenario.”

Hearing this, it occurred to Leonard that he might not have had the most accurate picture of Jerry’s mental state while he knew him. Jenny basically acted exactly like his former neighbor, vocabulary and mannerisms fully intact.

In fact, there may have been quite a lot of issues he was grappling with aside from the divorce, maybe even issues that had contributed to the behavior that led to that divorce. After all, Lenny’s idle research into Skyrim’s game mechanics showed that potions weren’t an item that you could use on other NPC’s, just items you could drink yourself.

In the front passenger seat, he looked over to Jenny and told her “A-As long as you’re satisfied with yourself, I won’t make a fuss about what happened before. I’m just happy that you’re happy.” in a rare moment of tenderness for the neighbor he’d almost always tried to avoid until the metamorphosis of a week ago.

She glanced over for a half-second from the road, then said “… okay? Fuckin’ why…?” under her breath so Hannah couldn’t hear. A dusting of a blush crept onto her face as they continued driving.

Finding a GameStop in the area proved difficult, so the three of them walked through Best Buy to the video game section.

“Should we look for something to try the ‘Point Transfer’ stuff with?” Hannah asked, eyes gliding over the various games on the shelves.

Lenny replied “J-Just pick something you’d find fun, it’ll be your game to play.” though the thought of getting a new avenue to use his “Point Transfer” was definitely an enticing one. Sadly, the available games were a bit out of his current budget, seeing as the prices for everything that interested him ranged from $60 to $80.

“Why’s every new game gotta be so expensive now? Man…” he thought dejectedly, as he struggled to even find cheap bargain bin games for the high-end console. On further examination, he realized the truly cheap games wouldn’t even be given the dignity of a physical release, relegated to the in-console market for DLC and extras.

But in the midst of this realization, Jenny put a hand on Leonard’s shoulder and said “Hey, I’m already getting my girl a game or two, you can pick one too. Don’t worry about the price, I’m good for it.” while making a veiled allusion to her successful OnlyFans exploits.

The short man had too much of a pathetic life before then to get prideful about a sexual and romantic partner paying for something he wanted, so he just nodded and picked out a PS5 game that looked like a feasible avenue to explore.

Which game does he pick up?
