Chapter 71
by
Doobler
What happens?
Jenny says “SHIT!” and grabs Leonard before no-clipping the two of them through the wall to her apartment.
The diminutive and scantily clad woman dragged Lenny toward the wall after her sudden exclamation, brandishing a paper platter as she pulled her baby daddy through to her apartment next door.
It was not very orderly there, random clothes and remains of delivered food orders scattered throughout as she panicked and tried to tidy up. “I have my daughter over for this weekend, but since it’s a fuckin’ furlough day she wanted a head-start on stayin’ over, so we need to get this shit spotless fuckin’ yesterday!” Jenny yelped as she shoveled takeout boxes and styrofoam clamshells into a garbage bag.
Leonard started gathering a ball of the clothes, unsure of whether or not they were all machine-washable. Apparently the divorced man-turned-woman wasn’t sure either and just put them all in the washer nonetheless though, so he started a load from the various sexy costumes strewn about the place from Jenny’s OnlyFans exploits.
The clock read about 9:00 when the doorbell to the apartment rang, prompting Jenny to curse profusely under her breath as she stepped over to answer it. Leonard thought the apartment was about as clean as was feasible though, considering the timeframe available.
As the apartment door opened, a mature and buxom woman with classically blonde hair stepped in with a teenaged girl who had dirty blonde hair. The adult woman had on a cream-colored blouse with a black skirt and heels, while the teenage girl wore a sundress that went down to her knees and some sneakers. Lenny supposed that these were Jenny’s ex-wife and daughter, Sheryl and Hannah, 36 and 15 years old respectively. If he remembered correctly at least, the topic of Jerry’s/Jenny’s family only came up once that the man could recall.
“Heya, sweetheart! How’s school, you doing good?” Jenny asked, a wide smile on her face as she hugged her daughter who was only slightly shorter than her.
“I’m doing okay, Da—Mom. I… I call you Mom, that’s right. Cause you’re a woman… and… always have been…” Hannah said, blinking a little too much as Leonard figured her brain was having trouble adapting to the “modded change” that resulted in “Jenny Schmidt” a week ago.
Sheryl sighed “Well, I’d say ‘take care’, but that would be disingenuous for both of us, now wouldn’t it?” at her former spouse, an impenetrable scowl on her face. Her eyes darted to Leonard for a second as she scoffed “So this is your new partner? I have to say, you downgraded.” while looking down on Jenny due to their height difference.
The man-turned-woman confrontationally chuckled “Oh, you’re just sayin’ that cause you don’t know what he’s packin’…! One night with him and you’d fold like a wet paper boat, beggin’ to be one of his wet, willing, and fertile slu—!” before she was cut off by her daughter’s groans.
“Can you please not? Like, both of you are just being so unbelievably cringe right now, just stop.” the girl elaborated, huffing before she turned to Leonard and asked “But, are you the guy who’s dating my mom now? She texted a lot about having a baby with someone named ‘Lenny’ earlier in the week.”
The short man blinked, but eventually said “Y-Yeah, that’s me… N-Nice to meet you…” with his usual nervousness as he extended a hand. Thankfully, the girl shook it right away and things didn’t feel awkward like they usually did. “It’s weird to say, but I did forget that Jenny has a whole kid from her time as Jerry… If I’m serious about really being with her, should I get used to thinking of her daughter as my daughter too…?” he pondered quickly during the handshake.
Sheryl departed with the scowl of a woman who’d just left her daughter with her spouse that she’d divorced for infidelity, and it was then just Leonard, Jenny, and Hannah in the sparsely decorated apartment.
“So, do you have any homework you need help with, or…?” Lenny asked, scratching his head since he was still feeling wildly out of place here.
Hannah groaned “Ugh, thankfully no. Mr. Feldman dropped a whole essay on our laps, but I got that settled before Mom dropped me off.”
“Whoa, look at little miss brainiac over here! Careful how you stand, don’t want your cranium leaking outta yer’ ears!” Jenny laughed, bordering the line between a genuine compliment and a cruel playground-style insult.
From the grin on Hannah’s face, Leonard supposed they had enough of a rapport for it to be the former. “It was easy, I just made it so the computer did it.” she explained.
Lenny held a hand out, asking “Wait… you mean you ‘did it on the computer’, right?” as he tried not to assume the worst.
The girl shook her head though, clarifying “No, I made it so my computer did it. It’s this cool thing me and my classmates found, lemme show you.” before she tapped a bunch on her phone, turning the screen to Leonard to show the homepage for ChatGPT. “You just ask it to write a paper and it just does it, isn’t it cool?”
Lenny and Jenny tried to stay calm and gentle when presented with proof that Hannah didn’t actually write her essay for school.
Lenny succeeded. Jenny didn’t.
