(Matt’s POV)

I’m very excited today. For a little while now, my situation improved with my streams, at first I didn’t get any attention but my new voice really did some work and I now get between 50 and 100 viewers per stream. They even started donating some money, not enough to replace my IT job yet, but I still have some money on the side, I’d say at least 2 months maybe 3 of rent before I need to find another job.

The reason why I’m so excited though, is because my popularity might get a big jump today as that’s the day of my collab with CutieAlexandra. She’s a pretty big streamer that noticed me soon after my voice changed. I never really cared much about her, thinking of her as a booby streamer, with her webcam taking as much space on the screen as the game she’s playing. But she never got into any controversies, and people really like her.

I have some time before the collab and I decide to open the app, I know I have 4 perk points in there that I kept just for today, so I need to think about what to buy with them.

Reward : Popularity Boost I perk

I received a new quest, and I don’t like the second step, I mean, I kind of already did that, but I always justified it as nobody asked, while everybody assumed I was a girl. As long as I didn’t say anything wrong, I wasn’t lying. But with this quest I’ll have to present myself as a girl.

That’s kind of to be expected, I know where I’m heading, and it’s to completely present as a girl online to get as many donations by lonely guys as I can.

I sigh, I guess I would have to cross this line at some point anyway, so telling everyone I’m a girl on the collab stream that could make me famous is as good as it’ll ever get.

And I’ll admit the perk looks great, I don’t want to go look for it in the god-awful perk tree, but I think I already know what it does just with it’s name.

What was I doing again? Right, I wanted to buy a perk or two to prepare for the stream.

I look at the terrible looking tree, if you can even call it that, most perks are accessible from the beginning except for their direct upgrades so it feels more like a list but with the worst UI ever made.

You’re lucky you’re a magic app, because otherwise I wouldn’t accept that little ease of use. There’s not even a validation popup when buying a perk.

I stop complaining and start reading some of the perks instead.

Parasocial Affection I looks interesting at first, but I’m sad to read it affects pictures and not streams.

I then find the Humor I perk, I guess that’s pretty good for a single point so I buy it.

I still have 3 points so I keep looking, I did get them for this moment, let’s avoid hoarding ressources and making life more difficult.

The Cute I perk makes me hesitate as well.

I think that would work, but I don’t think I want people to think I’m cute so I refrain from taking it, I can always change my mind later.
I notice another perk that would also be very useful, but I feel like that might be a step too far.

Femininity I (2 perks) : Become more feminine

The effect is pretty simple, and the reason I’m thinking about it is because it would really help with my quest, and hiding my gender online in general. I know CutieAlexandra only streams with girls, what if one of them asks me something only a girl could answer, this would certainly help me a lot, the thing that scare me is how strong the effect could be, especially since it costs 2 perks.
I scroll away.

I hope it’s not too bad! I close the app and go check myself in the bathroom mirror.

Yep, that’s still me. Well, I did change, but compared to what Beauty I did, it’s not that big of a difference. My face now looks more androgynous with big lips and a smaller nose. My ass looks slightly bigger, my arms and legs are thinner and smooth, and my hands almost look dainty.
I guess the change is visible, but you’d need to really search for it, and since it’s a perk, John will be the only one to notice it as another app user.

God, John is so lucky compared to me, not only did he change a lot in one go, but he became more handsome and masculine, I’ll admit, I did sneak a peek into his room last time he jerked off.

I think back to the joke he made last time, about me becoming his type as I became more feminine, and I look back in the mirror. Is that what I wanted? Maybe it was. I had a theory for a while now, that Life Quest tries to satisfy people’s desires,_ maybe that’s what I really _wanted.

I splash water on my face to interrupt my dangerous train of thought.
I need to get over myself, the live is in an hour, and I should get myself ready.

(John’s POV)

I open the stream, and it already started, AlexandraCutie presents her three guests one by one.

There are two webcams next to each other, and an anime character on the other.

“Thanks for the invite Alexandra! I’m always ready to prove luck’s on my side!” Says the first guest, a brunette with long hair in a very pink bedroom.

“Pfff, as if I wasn’t going to win again.” Says a voice that I assume belong to the person with the anime avatar. Her avatar is of a girl in a dolphin costume.

“And of course, Phina is also here as the winner of last week’s game.” Alexandra explains.

“However, we have a new guest for today’s stream, she’s still a small streamer, but I hope you’ll give some love to Revae!”

“Hey, everyone… Nice to meet you all.”

Right, Matt’s online name is simply is last name in reverse but he dropped the w because it made it impossible to pronounce. I never thought about it before but I guess it is girly enough.

Author’s Note : Revae is pronounced Ree Vay because I think that’s what makes the most sense

They start by asking a few questions to Matt, when did he start streaming, how good is he at games. He answers them honestly, and seeing him on a more professional stream, talking politely and trying to crack a few jokes, he almost seems like another person. A more social one at that.

Once they start playing however, he gets pretty much destroyed by the other three. He does win some mini-games, but on the board, he can’t seem to get to the star before another player gets it.

Since I notice my boss coming in, I decide to put my phone in my pocket and simply listen to it while I clean the tables. He seems satisfied, and leaves toward the storage room to find Maria.

Once I’m sure he’s done, I check the stream again.

“Revae, if you steal Phina’s star she won’t be first !”

“Nah, don’t listen to Alexandra, look at her coin total, she’s going to get another next turn, if you take it from me she’ll be first!”

“Just don’t chose me and you’re fine!” The brunette adds, I now know that she’s called Eva, she’s the shyest of the group so far but she seems to have taken a liking to Matt, and they’ve been helping each other as the last two.

“I’m sorry Phina, but I need to take out the person in first place.” He says in a cute voice.

The girls yell playfully as the chat laughs at Phina for losing her first place.

The stream keeps going for a while longer, and at some point Matt even get to first place, but it doesn’t last and he gets his stars stolen not long afterwards.

The game ends with Phina in first, Alexandra in second, Matt in third and Eva in fourth place.

They then spend some time talking, both about the game and their plans for next time.

“You know Revae I wouldn’t mind you joining us again next week!” Eva says, and the other two girls seems to agree.

“If you don’t mind I’d be happy to get my **** next time!” He says and they all laugh.

“By the way, I know you don’t want to show your face, but how about becoming a vtuber? I can send you a link to the artist that made my rig if you’re interested.” Phina asks, and I can hear the hesitation in Matt’s voice as he answers.

“Sure… I’ll think about it.” Is all he says on the subject, and the subject changes again.

Maybe that’s the right step for Matt, he wouldn’t have to show his face and I know those vtubers are becoming more and more popular recently.

Not long after that, they turn the stream off and I check the app.

Let me explain what happened with Maria during today’s meal. I gave her a pretty hard quest, to “confide in someone at work”. The reward was an “increase in relationship with confidant”.

My goal was obviously to clear whatever misunderstanding might have happened during our kiss, and have her stop avoiding me.

It worked, but not the way I expected. During our lunch break, she approached me and told me she had things to say.
She took me in her arms and apologized for the kiss, telling me she was sorry and it wasn’t appropriate.
I simply hugged her back, telling her that I didn’t mind, which was true since I was the one giving her the quest.
She seemed relieved as she pulled back, and after that, she said she would start cooking meals for me again, I won’t complain, as meals tastes even better when they come from someone you like.

Anyway, I think it’s time for me to spend some of my perk points I’ve accumulated since last time. I also wonder what will happen when I get to level 20. Will I get access to a second class maybe?
I check the perk tree in search of good perks to buy.

First I’m looking at Reward Designer I and II, buying both would cost me 4 perks, but it would let me write my own rewards, I don’t know if I need it as the app has usually been pretty kind, but I can see an occasion popup where all the choices are bad.

Then there’s Conditional Quest, that would basically be a second quest per target, acting kind of like permanent quests do.

Conditional quests (2 perks) : Can add an additional quest to target. The quest will be sent everytime the target met the condition. Conditional quest can be replaced or removed as long as it isn’t pending.

Optional Step is pretty cheap, and could help me avoid failing quest, but honestly I can’t find it worth it when my targets always succeed.

I could also check the stronger perks I might have been avoiding for their bigger price.

Author's Note : Last chance to vote for Cotton's Class, I'll admit I didn't expect Secretary to get that high as a last minute addition and I thought maid had definitely lost but it has come back to second place.
Like usual, you can recommend some perks for John to take, however I'm trying to avoid having too much powercreep.

I'm also not a big fan of adding punishments for failed quests as I consider John the gamemaster who's role is to make the game fun, a DM is not rewarded for wiping the team, but for challenging them and making them surmount obstacles.
