Chapter 497 by lew54321 lew54321

Do you talk about Jessica?

Needing to be said

You had already had the conversation about what Sarah would want if you were to continue interacting with Jessica but now that the time to see her was much closer than before, you wanted to see if any of her opinions had changed. It hadn’t even been that long since you had last spoken about it but you hadn’t come to much of a resolution.

Sarah had wanted Jessica to remain in her life but hadn’t said much more than that and while you were happy to try and make amends, there was only so much you could do if she continued being hostile towards you.

And while it was something you couldn’t reveal to Sarah, at least for the moment, you were sure that the KDK was having some sort of effect on this. One of the effects led to less jealousy among the subjects but in turn, that meant Sarah might not be as welcoming of Jessica until you actually tried to register her.

You didn’t like thinking about it but it probably also boosted Sarah’s affection for you more and that then might have changed her feelings about Jessica in comparison. Getting into the ‘what-if’s’ or what could have happened without the KDK was something destined to make you depressed and while ignoring the topic completely was also bad, this felt like an occasion where it was best to just let sleeping dogs lie.

“Like I said before, I’m happy to try and make amends with her and see if we can get along. If it doesn’t that’s okay but if it does, that’s then where I need to check in with you to see what you want to do.” you explained, hoping to get Sarah’s input.

“Didn’t I say you're the one who can make the decisions? It’s better when you are in control so…” Sarah went to reply, her ‘freeuse’ mentality starting to kick in before you interrupted.

“Yes you’ve said that. However, I wouldn’t be good at making decisions if I didn’t at least ask for guidance or peoples opinions beforehand and that's what I’m doing now. You are the one closest to her and I want you to help me” you said, rephrasing your wording in an attempt to get her to answer.

Again, she paused in her work and thought for a second or two, proving you had at least managed to get through to her.

“I think… I think she will appreciate it if you are honest with her. She’s always tried to do what’s best for her friends and you know how protective she is of me. Telling her that you want to make amends might go over poorly but if you say you asked me for advice first… that might be the best way to start the conversation…” Sarah revealed.

Her answer seemed well rehearsed given she had supposedly only thought of that in a few seconds so you were sure it had been on her mind. Before all this, Jessica was one of her best friends and losing that had definitely had an effect on her even if she tried to hide it, something you wanted her to get back more than adding Jessica as a subject.

“You’re right, that does sound like the best way to approach it. I know you’ve said she doesn’t like being called Jess over Jessica but if I do end up trying to get to know her, are there any other topics to just completely avoid?” You asked, hoping to get a bit more information if you could.

“Hmm, not that I can think of… Oh, she used to hate talking about romance and stuff like that but she seemed to realise she couldn’t just avoid that topic altogether. I’d still try not focus on it” Sarah added, making you nod your head in agreement.

Both pieces of advice had been more than you could have hoped for and the fact that she had been honest with you with her own thoughts instead of just relying on you to take control, felt like behaviour you needed to reward while you had the chance.

“Okay cool, I really do appreciate it. Even if you think I don’t need any help, there are gonna be some times where managing the lives of six or more people is gonna be a bit of a challenge. Just giving me your honest opinion does more than you would think” you said, turning your head to briefly kiss her forehead.

She turned to look at you which gave you the opportunity to lean in for a proper kiss, letting your lips linger against hers and pressing your heads together as you were **** to part from her.

Still, you couldn’t pull her closer with your hands wet and you had run out of dishes to clean minutes ago, having not wanted to disturb both the conversation and then the kiss after that.

It felt like a tender moment as you just leaned on each other for support and as much as you wanted it to last forever, you did need to make a move at some point.

After slightly longer than you should have taken, you **** yourself to separate from her and only after one or two forehead kisses did you actually fully step back. You had to wipe off your hands but you were ready to leave with that taken care of.

She seemed happy to accompany you to the door as you made your way out so you had even more trouble separating from her again. You did manage to make it outside where it felt like now would actually be the time for you to get going.

“I’m gonna make sure to do my best with Jessica and I’ll see you later okay? I’ll text you when I’m setting off as well” you reassured, wanting her to know that you were still keeping track of things.

“Good luck!” Sarah replied, waving you off at the door.

You couldn’t help but imagine this scenario playing out later on down the line, having one or multiple subjects wave goodbye as you went off to work at a day job, an idea that gave you hope for the future as you made it over to Grace’s and Emma’s house.

Do you manage to finally leave?
