The four of you walk back towards the inn. Tritera hands your father a bag of coins and a dinner plate sized object wrapped in a bit of cloth that must be the enchanted mirror. It didn't seem like it should have fit in her purse. Once at the inn she says she needs to talk to the innkeeper about the state he's left the guild's mirror in but your pretty sure she's just giving you some privacy to say goodbye.

Your father hands you the bag of coins.

Mr. Putty : "here, you might need these where you're going."

You refuse

Alex : "they're for you dad, they'll take care of me. You've already given me so much."

He insists but your eldest brother, already starting to take on the role of patriarch for the family settles the matter by opening the bag and handing you both 10 coins.

With that sorted out you gave them one last hug. As you turned to leave your father said

Mr. Putty : “you know your mother and I... Before you were born we picked out a name, you know... If you'd have come out a girl... It's just, you ought to have it if it's true. You'd have been Alexis"

It'd be some time before you really came to appreciate the significance of this. But for now you turned and headed into the inn to meet your destiny.
