A Sticky Spider Web Situation
"Walter! Six high!" Baroness shouted.
Walt spun, looking up and saw the half-spider girl casting a web. "On it!" He shouted stomping on a fallen broom handle, breaking off the head before kicking it up into his hands. He intentionally took the hit using a spinning motion and began winding the spider silk about the improvised staff. He winked at Haruna. "Looks like we found that silk deal you were interested in!"
Haruna clapped, happily nodding. "Arachne silk is wonderful stuff to weave with!"
The dark-skinned monster girl with the spider like body and elfin torso hissed. "I'm a drider, dammit!"
"What's the difference?" Haruhime asked warding off a different one.
"Well they can both be very similar or different depending on the different settings," Walt started to explain. "Mostly it comes down to whether one's a god cursed human or dark elf or if they're a naturally occurring monster species or-"
"Who gives a damn?!" Baroness said testily. She was still slightly irked that Walter had said to be "non lethal" in handling their opponents. She smirked though as she expertly squeezed off a few more shots hitting the crate her opponent was perched upon. The side of which came loose and dropped the arachne crashing to the ground in a shower of packing materials.
"We're not the same-" the arachne started to rebut only to get cut off as Shocket and Linda leaped on her and began pummeling and restraining with her zipties now that she was downed.
"We're not the same!" Came a repeated cry causing Walt to roll his eyes. Off to the side Pirotess was having an argument with an Arshes Nei from Bastard!, a Liriel Baenre from the Forgotten Realms, a Queen Alflyse svartalf from Marvel and a Warhammer 40K Dark Eldar he didn't immediately recognize but Friday identified as a Lelith Hesperax... not that any of that mattered at the moment. All of them were currently equally useless as they argued amongst themselves about "who was really a dark elf". They had taken down their assigned targets in an overwhelming display of grace and power before falling to their "extreme" personalities however. Pirotess had especially shown her worth as her thrown blades and sword sliced neatly through webbing and her whip struck and pulled opponents from their perches... but at the noment she was now bickering with the other so called dark elves.
"Fucking Costco," he grunted, pulling and yanking his own opponent down from her perch by the webbing.
"Sorry!" The associate manager shouted from where he'd taken cover. "I should have been more specific about asking for an open call for help from "dark elves"!" He sighed. "First the customer swarm, then a messed up order containing both driders and arachne and now this." He sighed. "I don't get paid enough for this."
Walt smiled sympathetically as Linda restrained the drider after Shocket had gleefully shocked her with a tazer like device. "Meh," he said. "Don't worry about it. Was that the last of them?"
"Yessir," he said after counting. "That should be all of them! How do you want the "bounty" paid out?"
Walt smiled looking at the girls. "Store credit would be just fine for us but you should check with the other characters owners. Haruna go ahead and pick out anything that you'd like to work with! My treat!" He gave her a thumbs-up and a wink.
Haruna beamed and hugged him. "Oh, Thank you!" She blushed cutely before letting go and giving him a proper courtesy. "I meant... Thank you so much, Master," she said before retreating and quickly dashing around. "Ooooo... Marinette was telling me about this material at the wedding! And this pattern is especially nice! And these..."
Walt chuckled watching as Haruhime helped her excited friend pick out her selections of materials and tools she wanted to try working with. "That was nice of you," Linda said as she, Shocket and Anastasia joined him.
Walt shrugged but smiled. "In truth I would let her get whatever she wanted anyway. Small price to pay for that smile and she deserves it. All of the maids work so hard for us and that should be rewarded."
"Yeah, that's nice an' all but..." Shocket said grinning leaving the unasked question hanging.
Walt grinned and nodded. "The same goes for all of you too, of course." He gently tousled her tufted pink hair. "Anything any of you see today that catches your eye, just let me know. Okay?"
She blushed but couldn't help leaning into the petting. He was just to good at it and it had been so long since she'd trusted anyone to touch her affectionately other than her adopted sister. Sure, Walt "owned" them... but it didn't feel like that at all. Infact it felt more like the opposite then anything else. Like he gave them more of himself without asking for much of anything in return.
Those thoughts still made her if she was going "soft", sometimes... but she grinned as her eyes lit up with avariciousness as she looked up at him and then her sister, Linda. "Anything?"
Linda rolled her eyes, softly elbowing sister but Walt chuckled and nodded. "Yep. That's what I said and I'm a man of my word. Try to keep it within reason though, alright?"
"Don't worry! I will!" Linda stated crossing her arms and giving her sister a hard look. Walt chuckled and patted her head too.
Linda smiled before her sister dragged her off to check stuff out. Anastasia smiled too, very slightly. "They trust you a lot."
Walt nodded. "Yep... and I trust them too." He looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "You too, you know?"
She rolled her eyes and adjusted her glasses to hide her expression, fighting to keep from smiling more. It was infuriating how he made some of them, including her, feel-... she shook her head. "In that case I want..."
Walt smiled and waited patiently. He expected her to say anything from guns and weaponry to equipment. He wouldn't have been surprised if she said she wanted expensive things or-
"Can you believe the nerve of those so called "dark elves"?" Pirotess said joining them, shooting a glare back over her shoulder. "Half of them don't even live in the woods or commune with spirits! Smelly caves and spaceships! And then they dared to act like they were superior! Ridiculous!"
Walt shrugged. "There's a fairly wide range of "dark elves" out there. And for the record none are "better" or "worse". Just different." He wisely kept his opinion that they were usually always "difficult" to himself. It was actually something he kind of liked about most of the dark elves in general. "You'd be surprised at the many different variations of every possibility there are, my dear Pirotess. And each is special, unique and beautiful in their own way, like you."
Pirotess crossed her arms beneath her bountiful bosoms, turning away. "Is that so?"
Anastasia tried hard not to laugh. Her friend- no, "ally"s ears flushed pink and twitched happily despite her feigned attitude. Also the way she flaunted her figure was definitely no accident. She was responding positively to Walters attention as well, just like- "*Ahem* As I was saying I request to join you on some of your "adventures" as my "reward"."
Walt blinked at the unexpected request. "You do?"
"As do I," Pirotess said. The corner of her mouth twitched upwards into a faint smile and her ears twitched again. "You could use assistance. Even with your prowess you're still only one man. Getting out on these little excursions is mildly entertaining as well as a good way to practice our skills." She traded a glance with Anastasia who nodded. They were in silent agreement. Each would accompany him to different places... for their own reasons!
Walt smiled. Considering how poorly things had initially started between them, seeing their budding friendship (though they'd likely dispute calling it that) continue to blossom was something he was proud of. Both of them were growing in their relationships with the others and it had started with each other. Their "truce" had brought a begrudging respect that had transformed into a genuine growing admiration for each other. They were very similar and yet different in ways to allow their relationship to flourish in positive ways and he was pleased to see it.
"Alright," he said nodding. "I appreciate the offer and will take you both up on it but..." he smiled. "But that's a separate matter. I'd still like to treat you two to something on this trip if you'd allow me?"
They both nodded ans smiled at that. "If you insist!"
