Go to the river

You arrive at a beautiful river, the current is swift, creating a dance of cascades and small whirlpools. it carves its way through the landscape.

In this part, the sunlight bathes the landscape and you notice a mermaid, plump and visibly pregnant, who floats in the water. Her scales are sapphire and pink, and she moves with grace.
You spot a second mermaid who is in distress. Her scales are light blue, she's hitting some kind of invisible barrier inside a cave. The cave is nestled into the riverbank, its entrance partially concealed by foliage.

You can ask the first mermaid for help, or try to help the other one inside the cave.
