Alicent Hightower (House Of The Dragon) (Young)

Daughter to Otto Hightower and sister to Ser Gwayne, Alicent has spent the better part of her life in King's Landing while her father attends to the business of managing the Seven Kingdoms as Hand to Viserys I. For most of that time, Alicent has been the very best of friends with the King's daughter, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (oft called 'The Realm's Delight' for her great beauty and charming sense of humour) and the two have had more than their fair share of youthful follies and adventures together. In accordance with the traditions of Oldtown and her house, owing to their proximity to the Starry Sept and long history of supporting the Faith of the Seven, Alicent is a pious young woman with an understanding of scripture and the virtues associated with the Seven Gods of Westeros that dwarfs that of her friend by an order of magnitude.

Rhaenyra has been raised to think of herself as the blood of the dragon, but Alicent knows only the bold beacon light of the High Tower, and the subtle splendour of the Seven. To be a Hightower is to stand tall and proud, but never so tall as to risk eclipsing the Gods, and never so proud as to forget one's place beneath them.
