Business Marketing
Katie Jefferson opened up her pink notebook, writing 'Marketing 101' on the top line in a bright sparkly pink pen. She was the only white girl in the classroom in Kingston, Jamaica, but it was something she was used to.
Growing up in Jamaica had been a curious mixture of privilege and not. Privileged in her parents were well off. Nonprivileged in that she was a minority here. Privileged in the sense that her beauty made modeling gigs easy to acquire. Nonprivileged in the sense that what everyone else did was cultural appropriation for her.
It made it difficult to get a guy down here. They all wanted one thing: creamy white pussy. But there was no commitment, no long term. And then her professor, Javaun Long walked in. In his mid-60s, he was a legend in the Kingston business community. With a gut and stark white hair, he was more of a wheeler and dealer. And he just happened to be widowed, Katie thought, seeing his eyes alight upon her with more than passing interest.
