The girls lose the debate

Susie couldn't believe that she and the rest of the girls at Pinkwhistle High had made that stupid bet with the boys.

It had just seemed so obvious to all of them that girls were smarter than boys. When Ben, speaking on behalf of the boys, had come to Susie with the idea for a big public debate, they'd all thought it was hilarious. Obviously the boys were going to lose. Susie, as the smartest of the girls, was going to give her speech about feminism and Hypatia and Amelia Earhart and whatever, and Ben was going to say something dumb about video games and probably forget most of his lines.

So any objective observer would logically conclude that girls were smarter than boys. And the boys would lose the bet, and have to do whatever the girls said for the rest of the month. And the girls would make them wear dresses and kiss each other, and it would be pretty funny.

But it hadn't worked out that way. Not at all.

It wasn't her fault, thought Susie, as she stood in front of Ben, who was grinning and holding a video camera. He was backed up by the rest of the chess club, and the other boys of Pinkwhistle High, as well as the entire population of Greenvalley High, who'd been invited along for the occasion. Nobody could have predicted that every single girl in the entire school would simultaneously have forgotten all of her clothes. But once it had happened, nobody could possibly pretend that girls were very smart.

"Speaking on behalf of all the girls at Pinkwhistle High," she said out loud, her voice only shaking a little bit, "I formally admit that boys are smarter than girls. Girls aren't very smart at all, not even Hypatia or Amelia Earhart. Now, watch me prove it."
