An Emergency Request

It was about 3 pm when we finally returned to the Pokémon Center. I got myself a room and my Pokémon checked out by Nurse Joy for their injuries during battle. After half an hour of waiting, my Pokémon were fully healed, and we went to the room for an afternoon nap. We woke up at 5 pm, and we were starving. So, we headed down to the cafeteria to get some food. As we were eating, I heard the distinct sound of thunder. Looks like that notification was correct. I was about to head upstairs back to my room when someone interrupted me.

"Excuse me!" a voice shouted out. I recognized that voice. It was Nurse Joy behind the counter.

"Yes, Nurse Joy. Is there something you need?" I asked.

"There is. Please follow me and I will explain," she said gesturing to the door behind her. I followed her instructions and entered the door behind her. Once she followed behind me, she closed and locked the door.

"Um, is there a problem?" I asked.

"There is," she said as she walked over to a table with a computer on it. As she turned it on she began explaining, "Do you know what this is?" I shook my head no. "As I am responsible for healing Pokémon, I can place small temporary trackers on Pokémon that I heal if I believe their trainers are questionable."

"How often does that happen?" I asked.

"It's quite rare for me to do this, but early this afternoon a trainer came in and I got a bad chill down my spine. So, I planted his Pokémon with a tracker which I can monitor with a program on this computer," she explained starting up the program. The program opened up and a map of the Kanto region appeared. It then zoomed into an area between Pallet Town and Pewter City with two spots glowing. One was north into Viridian Forest with the other to the south close to a lake near Viridian City, "The trainer in question had two Pokémon. You can see on the program that one of the trainer's Pokémon is in the Forest to the north, and the other is at this lake to the south of us."

"And you believe this did something to one of his Pokémon?" I asked. She nodded in response, "Okay, so why involve me?"

"Normally, I wouldn't involve another person in this matter, but I'm still needed here at the Center. I know you are just starting your journey, but I believe you are a trainer I can trust," she said.

"What exactly do you need me to do?" I asked.

"We are too far away to check the one in the Forest, but the one by the lake is something we can check. Go to the lake and check this Pokémon. Also if this Pokémon was abandoned it may not survive the storm heading this way," she said.

I sighed. I didn't want to go out into a storm, but if an innocent Pokémon could die because I did nothing I wouldn't be able to call myself a Pokémon trainer, "Alright. I'll help you," I said.

"Thank you. Give me your phone and I will give you the app to help you track the Pokémon. Once you have found it, see if it needs medical attention and possibly bring it back here," she instructed.

-Half an Hour Later-

"VEE! EEVEE! VEE! EEVEE!" Vivian shouted at me. The rain caused by the storm was coming down heavily.

"I know, Viv, but I know this Pokémon could be in trouble and I couldn't just let an innocent Pokémon suffer on my watch," I shouted back to her as we ran as fast as we could to the lake. We finally got to the lake, but there was a huge problem. With the sun almost going down and the rain coming down as hard as it was, I could barely see anything. I pulled out my phone to check the app, "Based on the app, that Pokémon should be somewhere around here, but I don't see anything. What about you Vivian? Can you see or smell it?"

Vivian and I looked for a few more minutes with no luck whatsoever.

"Help," I heard a quiet cry. I looked around and saw nothing, "Please. Help me."

That was until Vivian detected something, "Found something, Viv?"

"Vee! Vee!," Vivian shouted. I followed her until we got to a large tree. At the base of the tree was a large hole. Vivian was at the entrance of the hole. I knelt and looked inside and I saw the Pokémon. I pulled it out and was shocked to see what Pokémon it was.

"It can't be. This is-,"
