Fifth Year

Walking through the castle on the first day of classes, Dean Thomas tried to take a shortcut to get to his next class with Professor McGonagall.

Unfortunately, the shortcut he took ended up in an abandoned room with a pedestal and a book on it.

Making his way through the dusty room to the book, Dean couldn't make out the title, so he wiped it off with his hand.

The black leather cover had sparkling gold lettering that read The Noble Normalization Notation by Norm Norton, written on the front.

Opening the book, the front page was a description of Norm's goal and how he dedicated his life to completing the book. Norm explained that he had enchanted the book that would let someone write in it and make everyone believe that what was written in it was normal.

He continued, saying that he used Hogwarts powerful ley lines to empower the enchantments, making them permanent instead of temporary as long as they were written in the book.

However, at the end of the page, he describes how he felt the enchantment latch onto his lifeforce, and decided to write the note so that who ever found this note would be able to use his book when he was gone.
