An Attempt Was Made

Bug didn’t particularly want to continue playing but they wouldn’t speak up to say as much. They would play if Fayez and Lenny wanted to continue. Ben was obviously on the side of quitting.

Lenny shrugged his shoulders, “Missing pieces, and a weird sexual theme to it, I think I’ve seen enough. I know someone who might be interested.”

Fayez stood to start gathering up the game to put it away. “What’s this?” he asked picking up a card that sat in the middle of the board. “Warning,” he looked around at everyone else, “Quitting is strictly prohibited. Any further attempts will be punished.”

Bug hugged their legs, “This is weird. I don’t like this.” A chill ran down their spine.

“Very funny Ben,” Lenny said taking the card from Fayez, “I didn’t even see you swipe the card. How’d you even find the exact right card? Is this why you’ve been so pressed to quit?”

“It wasn’t me,” Ben said raising his hands in a defensive manner. “You’re the one who wouldn’t let me look at the cards, Bug picked the game, you two seem more suspicious to me. Right Fayez?”

Fayez looked over the warning card, “Guys call me superstitious if you want but I have a bad feeling about this. First my truth and dare card changed right in front of my eyes. I tried to make a joke after the question but,” he swallowed looking at Bug realizing he was admitting to wanting to fuck them, “Then this card just appears as we try to quit.” He shuddered, “I’ve got a bad feeling.”

Lenny drummed on the table, “So what the board game is haunted, or magic, or something?” He rubbed his chin as if thinking, “Well, the simple way to test would be Ben’s last card.”

Everyone turned to look at Ben. He shook his head, “Ha, you got me. I was almost believing it for a second. But what you’re all in on this prank?”

Nobody laughed, Bug spoke up, “I don’t think we’d need an elaborate prank to get you to touch yourself.”

Ben shook his head, “I honestly don’t know what your endgame is on this one, but I’m not falling for it. Let’s just put this away and play something else.” Ben reached out to grab the deck of cards to put in the box, but instead his hand grabbed just the top card.

Everyone stared as Ben drew the top card. Chills ran down everyone’s spine, they waited on baited breath as Ben looked at the card. The light’s flickered. “Well, what does it say?” Fayez asked nervously.

“You were warned. Punishment: Shrinkage,” Ben stared at the card, why had he drawn a card instead of picking up the whole deck? Flustered he looked around the table, “Shrinkage? Ha ha, dick joke. Ben’s got a small dick, real mature guys.” He was getting a bit bothered at the joke, trying his best not to let on. He reached for the board to continue putting it away.

“BEN! Stop,” Bug yelled, everyone froze unused to Bug raising their voice. “We’re not doing this. Something is wrong,” they said more calmly.

Ben looked around the table Lenny and Fayez giving him concerned looks, “Sure, a magic board game. I totally believe you,” he said with a wink.

“Ben, they’re righ—“ Fayez stopped mid sentence as Ben drew another card.

Ben read the card silently, before doubling over in pain. The card fluttered to the table as Ben held his groin. “Fuck me! What is going on?” Ben groaned, looking around the table at everyone’s concerned faces.

Lenny picked up Ben’s latest drawn card. “You need to finish. Punishment: Blue Balls.” Lenny and Fayez both winced at the thought. “Do you want to go take care of that?” Lenny asked nodding towards the restroom.

“I don’t think he can,” Fayez said, “If the game is magic, and based on Ben’s pain I think that’s confirmed, his other card said he couldn’t jerk it.”

“I’ll be right back,” Ben said, rushing off to the restroom. He dropped his pants as soon as he was in the stall, he was able to grab his cock but as soon as he tried to stroke his hand automatically pulled away. He tried again, only for the same result. His balls were sensitive to the touch, wincing a little at each attempt.

While Ben was in the bathroom the other three looked amongst themselves. “This is wild,” Lenny said examining the board, looking over the box, and rulesheet. It all looked like a normal board game.

“So what do we do now?” Bug asked, hugging their legs to their chest.

Fayez sighed, “If we can’t quit, I guess the only option is to keep playing. I didn’t read it before cause it just felt like flavor text, but the rules do say that the winner gets a ‘wish.’”

“So one of us just needs to get to the end and wish all of this away?” Bug inquired.

“Maybe, all it says is a wish,” Fayez said.

Lenny gave a, “Hmm, but it could have rules like a genie or in DnD. Or if the boardgame will try to Monkey’s Paw us.”

“This is some bullshit,” Ben huffed as he stomped back into the room. They quickly filled Ben on the wish development. “Fuck, right now I just wish my balls didn’t hurt.”

“So I guess we should play?” Fayez asked, grabbing the die for his turn. He rolled a 1, moving him up to Lenny’s square. “This wasn’t bad, right? The treasure chest?” He drew the card. “It’s a Get Out of Jail Free card, like from Monopoly,” Fayez showed off the card.

Bug looked over the board, “There isn’t even a jail on the board.”

“It could be worse,” Lenny said, holding up a hand to block Ben’s line of sight as he pointed at him. Everyone, even Ben, laughed at Lenny’s joke. They might be trapped playing a magic boardgame, but at least they were here with friends.

Bug reached out with a shaking hand to collect the die. They rolled a 4, and moved their piece to a new symbol on the board. It was two clashing swords, they drew a matching card and read, “Challenge: Pick another player for a duel. Winner gets a treasure, loser gets a trap.” They looked around the table at their friends. “I don’t know who to pick,” they said, worried about making any of them mad, but also who they could beat, and also what was the challenge?
