Daelana consistently brooded as she walked by the graceful Athalia on their way to the land of shadows. Athalia smirked at her every so often along the journey, hoping to get a reaction from her stone cold face.

“What’s so funny, darkling?” said Daelana.

“That name’s rich coming from you!” said Athalia, “I just find it funny that you’re not staying for the festivities. I at least have an excuse to leave immediately. I have an army to get under control!”

“That celebration’s not for me,” said Daelana, “I served my purpose. My enemy is slain. There’s nothing left for me there.”

“But I still don’t get why you’re coming with me,” said Athalia, “You know I’m returning to the land of shadows, right? I figured that’s the last place any of you girls wished to go.”

Daelana shot her an angry look. She wasn't one to let people question her business, even those who were friendly to her. There was no way she would give such grace to a dark consort like Athalia.

"Why should you care?" she said, "Unless you weren't planning to take your armies back to their homeland like you promised! Evil begets evil! In the end you're just like him aren't you? Well, I'll make sure that never happens! I'll be watching you and your little army to make sure they never hurt innocent people again!"

Athalia shot her back a menacing glance. For the first time in a while, that wicked smile completely left her face.

"I am nothing like him," she said with coldness, "Men like him have all the power given to them. I have to earn it. That is all that this was ever about and I never hid that from any of you. I can assure you that I won't be marching my army for another disastrous conquest immediately after the last one. When you earn power with your own two hands you tend to actually want to keep it intact. But by all means, stay with me in my dark home if it pleases you. I thought you might try to go back to a normal life or something when all of this was done."

Daelana tilted her head down, the faint look of sorrow in her eyes.

“There's no such thing as a normal life for me," said Daelana, "When you take darkness into you, you never go back. I got the power I needed to finish this, but now I'm a freak. Like you. Normal people with normal lives, they'd never accept me just like they'd never accept you."

“How touching,” said Athalia, “But let me tell you this, from one dark hearted bitch to another: normalcy is overrated anyways. Embrace the darkness! You already have the brooding down.”

Daelana looked to her feet once again, pondering her brief words. She had felt such confusion within herself ever since the elation of slaying Malgor had died down. She didn't even know if she had decided to follow Athalia by her own choice or purely on a whim. She knew that she had set herself down a path that there was no return from, but now that the path had run its course she was left wandering. Finally, she **** those ideas away from her thoughts. She returned to thinking about the only thing she had thought about for nearly 70 years.

"My oath is not done," she said, "As long as your armies exist and can do harm, my oath is never done. I won't kill you all, but I will watch you. I'll stand vigil for however long my powers permit me. That's my purpose now."

"You never really told anyone the specifics of this 'oath' of yours," said Daelana, "I'm assuming it's quite flexible. Kill the dark lord, watch over his armies, become a traveling partner to his consort. It doesn't really matter. Trust me, after a few years in the land of shadows, I'll have you singing a different tune. You'll learn to be happier with your curses."

Daelana simply grunted and continued on in silence. If being miserable would keep Athalia from getting her way, she was more than willing to be the most miserable woman in the lands. She thought of what the next stage of her life would be like, how long her vigil would be. Theis occupied her mind completely, and she would’ve been content to walk all the way to the land of shadows without a single word being said. But then, a bright light began to envelop her.

Suddenly Daelana opened her eyes and wildly flung around, looking right and left in a panic. Angelica and Christina saw her and waved their arms.

“Daelana!” they yelled, “It’s us!”

But Daelana ignored them, for something else caught her eye completely. She saw Malgor standing before her alive and well. Her mind went blank. She started shaking with anger, almost growling under her breath. Nothing could compare to the pure fury she felt in that moment.

“You’re supposed to be dead!” she yelled, “We killed you!”

She reached behind her only to find that her greatsword was missing. But she didn’t care. She ran at Malgor with nothing but her fists. Malgor readied himself to meet her but Helga gently put her hand in front of him while she snapped her fingers. Suddenly, Daelana froze in place and was made to stand up straight by invisible forces.

“Oh no,” said Helga, “Don’t do that! We don’t want you to be eliminated this early!”

“I can’t move!” yelled Daelana, “What is this?”

“What sort of power do you wield?” said Malgor.

“That’s a secret love!” said Helga, “But forget that! We should learn a bit about our third contestant: Daelana! She’s a dark-haired elven girl who lived in a small village. She was a happy child, but the dark lord’s armies destroyed her village and killed her family! From that moment on, she swore vengeance by any means necessary and became a dark knight: a hero who fights with the power of darkness! Her efforts against the dark lord’s army got her noticed by Angelica who recruited her to her party to take down the dark lord!”

“My oath was finally complete!” she yelled, struggling against her invisible bonds, “I was at peace! How? How did you come back?”

“We can discuss that after we’ve moved on to our other contestants, like the incoming contestant number four!” said Helga.
