Flashback to Cid’s first meeting with Benedikta

Flashback to Cid’s first meeting with Benedikta.

“I’m coming too, don’t try and stop me” Cod warned Gav as he began to pull his body into the wheelchair.

“Now, now! Tarji didn’t say you were up for mental warfare” Gav began.

“I didn’t take a hit to the head now did I? I’m well enough to talk” Cid argued.

“Yes, well a seizure isn’t really something to mess with. You might have another one and then we will have to stop interrogating her for a day” Gav argued.

“I’ve been well for now, it’s been days I think we can write that one off as a one time event” Cid replied.

Gav opened his mouth and shut it in defeat.

“Tarji must have the patience of a monk to deal with your bedside manners” he sighed.

Cid had already fixed himself into his wheelchair, a determined look on his face. Gav sighed, running a hand down his face.

“I take it you won’t reconsider this? Or at least hold off for a few days?” he asked.

“And what? Allow them to come to her rescue or for her to escape? No way, we do this now and with me” Cid argued.

“Fine, just make sure that you have taken all of your medicine before we go. Wouldn’t want Tarji to have to run back down to make sure you don’t collapse” Gav said tiredly.

Cid knew that his worry was warranted, it wasn’t like Cid didn’t expect that much at least. Even so, he didn’t take to everyone treating him like he was incapacitated. Yes, his situation was unique and even he wasn’t sure what was going on. But they couldn’t afford to be careful at all times. He was willing to take on the risk if it meant reaching the end of this war already. Now that he was ready to go, Gav led him to the prison they were keeping Benedikta.

Nothing was spared in the case of keeping her under lock and key.Even without her powers, she was still someone to keep an eye on. No talking was allowed less she worm her way out of being on strict observation. Cid himself had made that order, knowing she wouldn’t just sit quietly in a cell. He was surprised to hear that she had been behaving without much lip. His worries were only slightly put to rest. There was still the interrogation to worry about.

Gav led Cid to a secluded room, sentries waiting outside as they entered. Cid could see Benedikta was bound to a chair at the table. She didn’t look at all bothered by it, more annoyed if anything. She was clearly playing it cool, keeping quiet so as to not give them too much. Her expression didn’t change at first, then a smile appeared on her lips as she saw Cid in his wheelchair.

“Don’t tell me you fell that quickly after our encounter” she teased.

“Stuff it, my condition is unrelated to the war” Cid said gruffly.

“Aw, have a stumble getting out of bed?” she continued.

“You sure we can’t put a muzzle on her?” Cid asked Gav.

“That would be counterproductive given this is an interrogation” he sighed.

Benedikta’s smile fell and she rolled her eyes.

“If you are done with the jokes, can we get this over with? I do need my beauty sleep” she groaned.

Cid rolled up to the table, Gav sitting next to him. The two were left alone with her and they didn’t wait to get down to business.

“Tell us everything you know,” Cid ordered.

“No,” she said simply.

“You aren’t in any position to argue!” Cid growled.

“Oh I think I am, you want something from me and I don’t need anything from you” Benedikta argued.

Cid bit his lip, she had him with that one.

“Well, tell us why you were searching for the bearers” Gav said.

“No, I’m good,” she huffed.

“You’re really going to play hard ball with us?” Gav sighed.

“Oh honey, I am all about doing things hard” she smirked at him and licked her lips.

Gav swallowed, unsure of how to continue the conversation after that remark.

“Tell us who else you have recruited!” Cid tried.

“How about no?” she scoffed.

Cid and Gav looked at each other, obviously annoyed by her lack of answers. They had expected as much but she didn’t appear to give them anything to work with.

“You know, if we can’t get anything from you we can always execute you” Cid warned.

“You wouldn’t do that, I’m too rare of a piece for that” she smirked.

“We don’t need you past the info you refuse to give us” Gav argued.

“ Now I do think you both are rather useless, but I didn’t take you two as stupid” Benedikta sighed.

They had hit a wall with her. They could tell she wouldn’t tell them anything willingly and it was too dangerous to try and **** it out of her. If it became bad enough, they could trade her for something valuable to tip the scales in war. They had nothing at this rate.

“I won’t tell you anything on the Waloed or Hugo. So are we done here?” she continued.

Cid looked at Gav, trying to come up with some other way to keep her there. Surely, they could figure out a way to get her to talk with more time! But Gav shrugged, he had nothing else he could work with.

“Fine, you can go back to your cell” Gav sighed.

“Good, I think I would like to stretch my legs on the way. Too bad for you Cid, you might want to work on your arms more” she laughed.

Cid grumbled, wheeling out of the room ahead of them. The sentries entered the room to grab Benedikta. She walked away smugly while Gav rubbed the back of his neck.

“How can someone so beautiful be so nasty?” he sighed.

“They say the prettier the rose the sharper the thorns” Cid scoffed.

The interrogation had ended in their loss, they still had Benedikta and had no leads to give them an edge in the war. They needed to keep them alive, making her more of a waste of their resources. Cid returned to his room, finding no need to be out and about anymore. He also wanted to be alone to plan, he still had one more thing he could do.
